Disc 2 isn't working for me either. Hmm...
Hmmm...it worked for me. But it seems like there were several people that it didn't work for. If anything my Disc I was the touchy one. It froze up around 50% and I had to close it out and start over again, and while it took longer than it usually does, it still ended up working after the wait.
Have you tried it more than once??
Yeah, I've tried about 10 times. It's downloading now but it's stalled at 4%. WTF...grr.
Hmmm...I don't know. Maybe if you post on the thread that it's not working for you either someone will repost it (especially since there were a couple of other people that said they had problems with it). I don't know how to do my own YSI thing, so I can't e-mail it to you. If push comes to shove and it nobody re-posts it in the next couple of days, I should be able to burn it to CD and mail it to you. At least one of us has it in its entirety.
Does the recording do justice to how bad Bono and MJB sounded together on ONE? Anyway, Disc 2's finally moving along (at 38kb/sec, but at least it's something) so hopefully it doesn't poop out.
Did you catch CZJ (aka The Goddess) and Franz on SNL yesterday? And Weekend Update? [paraphrase]
"President Bush and U2's Bono met for lunch on Wednesday, where Bono urged the President to give back to the children and Bush urged Bono to get back with Cher."
I just popped One on...we shall see if it does justice to their cringeworthy (lack of) harmonizing. Ooooh, "Thank you Tim Robinson and Susan Sarandon."
Hopefully it'll work for you this time. You simply must have HGRYWH and OotS!!!
I can't believe how much time I spent last night on that acoustic thing! It's pretty decent, though when I put it on CD, it puts those damn 2 second gaps between the tracks, though they aren't there when I did it all directly on my computer.
Oh, and I did watch SNL last night through Weekend Update. It was OK. Not as painful as other recent ones have been, but still not particularly funny...and I was somewhat less than impressed w/ the new FF song. Didn't really do it for me as much as the stuff from the first album, especially if that's what they're putting out as their first single. No where near as infectious as Take Me Out.
Yeah, MJB and Bono together...*shudder*
ETA: Eek...the end was worse than I remember it being! Boy did we get shafted in the guest department. BRRRUUUUUUCCCCE!!!!
I think I only cracked a smile twice during SNL - the SpongeBob joke and the Bono/Cher joke. I sat stone-faced the rest of the time. It's such a shame, especially when you watch those late-night older episodes, you realize just how badly it's deteriorated. T---Oh my GOD, this better be a joke. I've been downloading TWO Disc 2's this whole time? WHAT THE F*CK????? That's impossible!!
Gawd, I am a retard. How did I go from not being able to even load Disc 2 to getting TWO of them?? ARGH.
Anyway, I wasn't big on the new FF song either - I listened to half, thought it sounded really repetitive, and then fast-forwarded to Weekend Update. And Take Me Out really is infectious - I still bop my head. Are they doing concerts in NY this week(end)? I thought that had already come and gone?
How far did it make it? Did it freeze up or is still going/just taking forever?
I've gotta get running in a few, but I hope you can get it working! It's such a pisser to get 5 out of the 6 discs done only to have all these problems w/ the last one.
I think I'm going to be giving up on SNL, unless there's someone absolutely remarkable as a host/musical guest. I had it on, and the roomies were in, and I don't think they wanted to watch it, but I refused to admit defeat even though it was sucking royally. I held out until post-WU, but that was as far as I could make it. Sad, sad, sad!
Good lord, the "Oh-h-h, oh-h-h"s where they're, er, "harmonizing", are more painful than I remembered. Disc 2 is done now, and I cancelled the other one, so now I'm re-downloading Disc 1. Meh, I've got 20 minutes to kill before I go to work.
Every year I keep vowing I'll give up on SNL, but every week I keep hoping THIS will be the episode to break the rut (yet it never happens). I've no interest in seeing Lance Armstrong or Sheryl Crow next week. I usually only tune in for the pre-show skit, the opening monologue, then channel surf until 12:15 for Weekend Update, and give up.
Yeah, the idea of LA hosting w/ SC as the musical guest is quasi-sickening. I don't think I'll be making much of an effort to catch that one. I figured Catherine and Franz Ferdinad would be a good show (if ever there was one) but alas...I think that there is officially no hope. I think they need to get new writers and a new cast and just start from scratch. Obviously the crew they've got there now just aren't cutting it...and just think, these are the "good" sketches that make the cut for the final airing! Can you even imagine what got scrapped?!?!
What was wrong w/ disc I? But you did get to hear One again? It was a doozy! I think I'd be ripSH*T if that was the only concert I went to and that was my only time hearing One. Whether or not you get tired of it by the 4th or 5th concert, it was still one of the handful of classics that I was getting all giddy about hearing live for the first time in May. At least w/ Bruce they added a non-U2 song and did People Get Ready together. I think it's kind of bull to do a classic w/ a guest like that. I was kind of surprised they didn't do ISHFWILF w/ Bruce after the Rock n Roll induction.

What song did FF do on SNL? Was it Do You Want To? How can you guys not like that song?! *sings* Do-do, do ya, do ya wanna...do-do, do ya, do ya wanna...
<--- Like the new av? Any Cardigans love here? They rock!
That sucks about your speeding ticket, Whiff, although I do believe that justice has prevailed. You crazy speed-demon, you -I hope you've learned your lesson.
And change back the thread title - I can't quite put my finger on it, but something's different!

Man, I have been busy and haven't been able to read the past few days and I think I am about 5 or 6 pages behind.
I miss anything epic? Anyone want to provide cliffs notes?
Hey guys...Ellie, I'm not sure what song Franz played. I haven't bought the CD yet, because I missed the first week sale, and since I don't have a radio and MTV/VH1 don't seem to play music anymore, I'm not all that up to speed on any of the particulars of the new album (or any new music for that matter!) I don't know. I just didn't do it for me. The album's on sale for $10 this week at Best Buy, but I'm not so sure I'm going to be in such a hurry to run out and buy it now. I'm sure I'll pick it up sometime, but after a week of excessive spending w/ U2 etc, and not being particularly wowed by the new song, I think I'll wait.
Hey Pat!!! Not much new. A lot of banter between me and Tiff about finding our shows to download on interference. Tiff got a speeding ticket last night, my (sociopath) roommate is still weird (possibly bi-polar...even her boyfried seems kind of miffed w/ her of late, so apparently it's not just me!), ummm...where you here for Bruce in Philly?...Tiff typed out the "Miracle Drug/Edge is a spaceman from the future" speech. Dunno...that's probably about it.
I apparently missed Bruce in Philly as well.
I am sitting here watching the Lakers game, transfering a VHS to DVD, updating the iTunes listings so Catorce Dos will be more accurate and getting nervous at the upcoming scary as hell month of November.

Eek! Busy, busy!!! I can't believe you put Madonna's CD release on there, Pat. That trip to the record store'll be crazy! Then again...it very well could be an ordeal!
Yeah, Bruce joined U2 in Philly to play People Get Ready. I'm significantly peeved that we got MJB and Bono masacring One (they really should have just let MJB sing it herself or something...they did not gel together well at all!) and Philly got The Boss!
Yeah...other than that...oh, and Tiff and I deciding that SNL is pretty much a lost cause this morning...that's pretty much all that I can think of. I think we've been doing a lot of chatting about nothing.
Ha, I had to put Madonna on there. She's earned it.
I just added a Rent screnning on there.
It might be kinda cool to do a midnight screening of Rent in NY, of course I have to get up and get SRO/Rush tickets to SOMETHING that morning so I am not sure how I want to handle that.
So 2 minutes before I was supposed to leave for work, Disc 1 stopped downloading for me. Grr. So now I'm doing it for, like, the third time right now. I listened to One twice and each time, it just sounds worse and worse. Can you imagine if that was the only rendition you ever heard live?? Are there any boots of Bruce in Philly yet? I would LOVE to hear them together. Love! To!
What's up on the sociopathic bi-polar roommate front? You know, at some point where you're PMSy, you should really just hash it out with her. Just be like, "Bitch, you hid the TP? Dat ain't cool, y'all." (And if you'd rather do something nastier, I can send you some super glue to put in her shampoo! At least if her fingers are stuck in her hair, she can't turn on/up the AC!)
Yep, I think it was that song, smEllie. And that's ALL the song consists of, so I could've really just heard the first 15 seconds and known the entire thing. Which is why I fast-forwarded the rest of it.
The Cardigans? Meh. I like cardigans, but I'm indifferent to The Cardigans. When I hear that song that includes something like, "...oh...my...?...changes ev-er-y day...in ev'ry possible way..." I TOTALLY think of that scene in The Next Karate Kid when Hilary Swank is finally starting to develop her talent. Sad, I know.
Patty, your November looks AMAZING! I'm so jealous! Are you really planning on seeing In My Life out of ALL things? More for the bad-camp value or out of a genuine hope that it's good? (Because I wouldn't put a red cent on THAT hope!) I'm very excited about the HP4 release. Very, very excited, indeed. The trailers look and sound absolutely spectacular. I was actually trembling after watching them, and the same can't even be said about Rent!
So a co-worker advised me to use my speeding ticket serial number and officer's badge number (which is on the ticket) and play those numbers on Canada's biggest lottery, which is at a record $40m for Wednesday. So hopefully last night will turn out to be the best day of my life! In which case, Nic, I'll be seeing YOU in NEW YORK in December AND I'll pay for my own place to stay! (And perhaps treat us BOTH to a big fat steak or three!)
December? When are you going to be in NYC, tiff? I'll be there for a couple of days after Christmas.
Oh, this is purely a hypothetical trip, provided I win the $40m lottery on Wednesday. Otherwise, the present plans are to be in Florida and the Caribbean in December (the cruise, flights and hotels are booked - just a matter of planning activities!).
Did you finally end up getting 10/8 in its entirety, Tiff?
On the sociopathic roommate front...Hmmm, not a whole lot new. Saturday ended up being a menage, which pissed me off (apparently I've been spoiled having the room to myself for pushing 2 weeks). She was sick and running back and forth to the bathroom, so I would have figured cozying up in the twin bed would have been the last thing she would have been up for...Guess I was wrong. She and Mr. Charming came in around 1, and after much tossing and turning, he finally fell asleep around 2, snoring away, which meant I didn't fall asleep until god knows when. I think 3 was the last time I looked at my cell for the time. I don't know. It's all just more of the same. Blah, blah, blah.
The 24 Hour Plays are tonight, and for the first time they're doing student rush. It's a wonderful gesture, though I'm less than thrilled that they aren't selling the rush tix until 7:45. I really don't have all day to camp out up there. I don't know. I'll probably head up around 3 or so. I've got to get caught up on some reading and I've got a test tomorrow.
Good luck on your lotto-ing!! Even if you don't win the jackpot, maybe you'll get enough numbers right to pay off your ticket!!! I'll keep good thoughts for ya!!!
Finally sold my Vegas singles to a guy in Toronto at face value. Good deed, right? After watching that "Earl" show and buying a lottery ticket, I feel like I need to change my bad karma right fast!
Have fun at the 24 Hour Plays today! Who's doing them this year? Is Liev Schrieber in? How many student tickets? Lotto or line-up? Price? Lucky!
Finished DLing Disc 1 - not too bad. There's something nice about listening to my first I Will Follow over, and over, and over... (the audience was livelier than I noticed before!)
I don't think I want to hear 10/7 or 10/11 - I don't want to think that they could be better shows than the ones we saw!
What the hell? Why is my post there but it only recognizes Mabel's as being the last one, and this wasn't bumped to the first page?
The 24 Hour Plays were great. I've always wanted to go, but they never had any affordable tix. For the first time last night, they had $25 student rush tix. They were supposed to go on sale at quarter of 8, but since benefits never really have rush tix, we had no idea how early people would get there. I got there around 5:15 or so, and there were only 2 other people there (emcee and another girl). Liotte got there around 6, and shortly after that, they decided to sell us some tix right then and there, since we got there so early! So, we got some "comp'd" tix that were supposed to be for Glamour Magazine in row O of the orchestra!! So, it was nice to have them early and have time to grab a bite to eat, etc.
There were 6 scenes, some significantly better than others. Off the top of my head, some of the people in the shows: Kate Burton, Fisher Stevens, Terrence Mann, Hayden Christensen, William Sadler, Tracie Thoms, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Adam Pascal, Charlotte D'Amboise, Rachel Dratch, Cady Huffman, Andrew McCarthy, Cheyenne Jackson, Elizabeth Berkley, Anthony Rapp, Ally Sheedy, Rosie Perez, Alan Tudyk, Ben Shenkman, and Anthony Mackie...*pfew* There were a handful of others that I wasn't familiar with.
I'd say the scenes w/ Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp were the two worst of their respective acts. The highlight was the last scene w/ Tudyk/Shenkman/Mackie! They were playing dancers who were trying to get in w/ a producer by cleaning his penthouse, only to find out he wasn't a producer, just a rich guy who was in the produce business. Seeing Ben Shenkman doing a West Side Story-esque leap was worth the $25!! And William Sadler was cracking me up during their scene. A bunch of the actors who'd already done their scenes were sitting in these orchestra level boxes, and Sadler was laughing SO loud!!! Twas hilarious!
Oooh, and at intermission, some guy gave me a poster, so I got that signed by a bunch of people (the RENT crew, McCarthy, Mackie, Shenkman, Christenson, Huffman, Sadler, etc...Dratch didn't come out, Perez/Berkely/Sheedy looked like they did not want to be bothered, and there were a few others that I had to let go while I was getting someone else).
It really was a lot of fun though. I wish I could have seen some of the others w/ MLP/Crudup/PSH, etc.
Anyway, I'm off to take a quick power nap, and then I have to write a shot analysis for my film class tonight.
P.S. How's the l*w s****l biz going, Tiff??
That sounds like a PHENOMENAL group of performers! Holy cow! I would totally SH*T my pants to see HALF of those people!! What other skits were there? Tell me more!! Why did Adam and Anthony's suck so much? Was Rachel Dratch any good?
Currently working on the l*w s****l applications right now. I'm stuck on campus until 5:30, so it's going to be a while yet! I feel nauseous thinking I'll have paid $400 to apply in Ontario, and it would all go down the toilet because the student Registrar didn't mail my transcripts on time.
By the way, I'm going to win $40m tomorrow. Just so you know.
