I'm not sure what would be worse, knowing that you'd put in an honest effort and being rejected or not even getting the chance to be rejected. I think at least if you got flat out rejected there'd be some closure in that knowing that (apparently) it just wasn't for you. I think there are just too many what-if's w/ your situation. That would make it worse for me. Sure, it's nice to tell yourself that "I could have," but then there's always that "IF" there, and it would just keep coming up again and again. If you're really rejected. That's it. It sucks, and you'd feel bad about it, but there's nothing that could be done about it. You can't go back and second guess yourself. Well, I guess you can, but I think it's a different kind of questionning, if that makes sense.

Awwww, late hugs to Tiff! I do agree with mabel though. This isn't reflective of a lack of ability, but more of a lack of preparation. Still, I'm sorry to hear that you are having a rough time, sweetie.

I really must get a job that allows me unlimited internet usage. I get so far behind on this thread and a couple of others everyday.

My wife needs to hurry up and finish moving up the corporate ladder so I can be househusband. :)

So the good news is Windsor emailed me back (and didn't seem to notice my Ottawa U error) and said I should be alright because they've extended their deadline to November 13! Meaning that not only would I be safe if my application hasn't been processed yet, but I may even have time to tinker with my personal statement AND this was the university that I had the best shot at!

The bad news is I know dick-all about the Ontario application technology so I don't know if I can remove Windsor from my current application and then send it out again later, or if I simply can't access my application once it's done. Meh, at least applying as is is better than not applying at all!

Buuuut I guess the worst case scenario is that OLSAS says, "Too bad, it didn't go through and we're not taking responsibility for it.", and Ottawa and Western won't extend for me (still have to hear back from them) but I can apply to Windsor AND tinker with my personal statement.

Hurrah! Now...back to nap till I hear from them again.

Well, that sounds promising at least. Is there anyone you could call at Ontario to find out what you have to do w/ fixing something on your application? You've been given a second chance w/ this. If it's something you REALLY want, don't wait until 10pmEST on November 13th to decide that you might want to figure out whether or not you can tweak stuff on your application. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)!

Good luck, Tiff! And keep us posted.

No kidding, Patronus McPatronize. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)! Anyway, Ottawa gave a firm no (and were kinda mean about it, if you ask me), the Western Ontario folks are apparently out of the office until 3pm, and Windsor's given me a yes. So I suppose I shall harrass Western until I get a yes out of them too. (Do you think a variety of voicemails with a growing hysterical pitch would do it?)

In the mean time, I was just on the phone with OLSAS, who said they had no technical errors on their part and that if my computer screwed up, it's not their problem and I'd have to go to each individual university to ask about their late application process. They apparently don't even have the capability to tell the colleges when was the last time I modified my account (which wasn't since before the deadline), so F*CK you, OLSAS and thanks for sucking up all my money!

(Doesn't $400 for 3 law schools seem excessive??)

Yeah, $400 for 3 schools seems a bit (yeah, more than a bit!) much!!! But, I guess there's really no arguing with it. And that's lame of them to hold you fully responsible if your computer screwed something up. Yeah, if you just let it go, then I can see them saying "that's not our problem," but if you take the initiative to inquire about a problem, then they should at least try to help you out.

I'm really confused about all this law school stuff and the problems with the applications, but this recent development seems to be a good thing (right?) so yay! I hope it all works out, Tiff.

I just took my history final and now I only have one exam left! yay!

Yikes. I am really sorry if I came across as patronizing.

That was the last thing I was trying to be.

Hell, I have been unable to complete one college course, so if nothing else I am living in awe of you guys. I am too f**king lazy and scatterbrained.

Sorry to come across that way.

I may be going out on a limb here, Pat, but I think Tiff was just too weak to resist the temptation of having an excuse to write "Patronizing Patronus." I may be totally off base, and Tiff, feel free to call me out if I am, but it's just a hunch. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)!...Besides, I think I was more "tough" on her last night.

Hooray for being one test away, Elphie!!! When's the last one? I'm sure it'll be quite the relief to have it all done and over with. Then you've got a week to just relax, right? HAVE FUN!!! I'm very jealous!

My last test is on Monday. I'm really beyond caring now, I think partly because classes have been over for so long and partly because my grades here don't even count towards my GPA so I just have to pass. And partly because it's been really warm here; I went to the beach the other day and went swimming in the ocean! The ocean is only 5 minutes from my house, I can see it from my window, and so I figured I might as well make use of it while I can. So I'll be chillin' there a lot next week. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)! It's just me and the boys in the flat now because the other girl left already, and it's strange without her. It makes me realize how soon I'll be leaving (next Saturday!).

I hope you got a hold of Western Ontario, Tiff!

And Pat, I agree with Mabel, I think Tiff was just being...Tiff. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)!

I'm SOOOO jealous of your living w/in viewing distance of the beach! I haven't been to the beach in YEARS, and I do enjoy the beach. I'm really not much a sunbather, but there's nothing like a good walk on the beach.

That's so great that you get to just sit back and relax for a bit. And it's also nice to not really have to worry about your grades. I always love having one blow off class that you know you can just show up for and you'll be fine. A whole course load like that, just having to pass must have been a nice break from the norm.

Now, when you leave next Saturday, you've still got another week there, right? Good times, my friend!!

So, I received random tickets to The View in the mail today. I didn't sign up or anything, but I am going to RSVP and likely go unless I get Ellen tickets. If nothing else, they might be giving things away.

Mabs, I love the beach. I go to the Jersey shore a lot. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)! But being so close to the beach here hasn't done me any good up until now because it's been so cold!
And yep, I tour the north island for a week before I head back to the U.S. I can't wait!

I actually really like the beach when it's cold out. I mean, not like gale force winds and blizzard conditions. But I would enjoy an unseasonably cold day at the beach in Maine, walking on the beach w/ a sweatshirt w/ it all chilly. I guess I'm weird like that.

Hee, no worries Pat, Nic knows me too well - I really did just want an excuse to say "Patronus McPatronize" (it was clever, right? Right??). Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)!Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)! In many ways I feel like you guys know me better than my "real life" friends and you have an honesty and objectivity that they don't have, so I never take what you say personally, and assume everything's said with the best intentions!

How did you receive random tickets to The View, Pat? Who's on the roster for them? Lucky you, not having to haul ass outta bed early in the morning like Nic and I did!

Claire, hooray! (Hey, how come we're all using each other's real names but "Pat" is still "Pat?? Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)! Can't we endanger him as much as we're endangering outselves?) Why don't your courses here apply to your overall GPA? How did your music industry course turn out? By "north island" do you mean, er, Australia? You know, that big lug o' land?

Got through to Western - they said I could still submit, so believe you me, I edited that personal statement like a quick mofo (if OLSAS really CAN'T tell them when was the last time it was modified, then what the hell do I care?), took out Windsor from my submission list (since I have a week to tinker) and submitted it. THEN I find out afterwards that you're only allowed to submit your OLSAS application once, and all of your universities have to be submitted at the same time because you can only have one OLSAS account, which is closed upon that submission. So now my OLSAS account is closed. And I still have to apply for Windsor. Er...oops.

Just before putting a gun to my head, I called up Windsor and they said it was a dumb thing to do (Why?? It's a site where I've been able to update my submissions regularly and I sure as hell pay them enough money to use it!!) but I can still apply by paper. So I actually have to have my edits done by this weekend so I can courier it out, but I'm not complaining anymore because I'm emotionally deplete, and I still get to apply to 2 out of the 3 law schools I wanted to (and really, Ottawa was a long-shot, so meh).

Oh, and so I treated myself to a shopping spree and spent $200 at Guess?, Aldo, Esprit and Tommy Hilfiger. (Which is still substantially cheaper than the price of the OLSAS base fee AND one Ontario university application, might I add.) And now my day is done.

*slump*

Tiff, that's great that you were able to edit that application. So when do you hear back from all the law schools about whether you got in?

My university back home won't use grades here towards my GPA because it isn't really fair; I'm being graded on a completely different scale (I actually wish they did count, because I'm doing pretty well in all my classes!). The music class was sooooo much fun, and I'm pretty sure I did really well in it (unless I completely bombed that Spinal Tap essay that was worth 50% of my grade; I haven't gotten my score for it yet).

And by north island I mean New Zealand...the country is made up of two islands. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)!

Did you girls see The View while you were in NYC, Tiff? I missed that. Who'd ya see?

And a shopping spree sounds like a fun way to blow off some of that stress!

Alrighty, Stephie it is! (No? Okay.) Don't worry, I won't be calling you Steve. 'Tis the name of the duplicitous ex-boyfriend who dumped me in bed, and I've been conditioned to follow the name with, "thatmotherF*CKercocKwadIhopeheDIES!!!asshole" as if I have Tourette's, so I won't be going out of my way to have to restrain myself like that. Law School Trauma Day (Part 3)!

Apparently I don't start hearing from any law schools until at least December, assuming my grades are high enough to give me entry right off the bat - if not, then I won't hear until the spring. I'll just be happy to have all of my applications over and done with (the next set of deadlines are in February and let's hope I don't have a meltdown like I have been for the last 48 hours). I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for New York job opps, and am considering applying for Entertainment Tonight Canada in Toronto as well.

Oh! And the BC government caucus (that's sort of our equivalent of the state...senate?) called me because apparently the Minister who I was supposed to intern for submitted my resume, and I've got an interview next week to be an official legislative intern in Victoria (the capital of BC)!! Tres excited, even though the pay is SH*T. If I can get a reference letter from Gordon Campbell (our equivalent of the governor of a state), I'm totally in anywhere I want.

Hmmm...I tried posting before, and I kept getting booted off.

Anyway, that's great about law school, and the interview next week!!! You can't expect to make the big bucks right out of the gates. It sounds like that could be a hell of an opportunity.

Get anything good on your spree, Tiff? Any deals?

And I still call Claire Elphie 1/2 the time and there are plenty of Mabs' in there w/ the spattering of Nic's. So...yeah.
