I'm not a member, I can't afford to pay that much! I'm afraid it'll be hard to get tickets, too, because I'm not a member. I suspect they'll sell out quickly. I still don't know if its worth it to join, though. I don't have money to throw around.
ETA: if anyone who IS a member of the fanclub wants to buy a ticket for me in the presale and then let me reinburse them (and compensate them slightly for their kindness), I would be forever grateful!

Yeah, Gold, I think that's what they mean. Then again, I don't know about you, but the Vancouver concert is at an arena, so the floor wouldn't have any chairs anyway.
I'm not part of the U2.com fan club but I was contemplating it for a while. I think if you want to take advantage of the pre-sale, you need to have been a member by either today or tomorrow. (Check the U2.com tour FAQ like now and let me know cuz I vaguely remember something about that.) Keep in mind though that there's a limit of 1 show, 2 tickets per pre-sale member, and there's only a limited number of tickets released for pre-sale. So you still have a pretty good chance of getting tickets on the day of.
Ellie, if Ashlee opened for U2, and Bono interrupted her, threw her microphone away and chanted, "Live! Live! Live!", my life would be complete.

That would be a fine sight to behold indeed. I just want a chance to bottle her offstage!
Did you see U2 on SNL in November? I was actually trembling.
The last day you could join was Monday, which ended about 30 minutes ago.
Thanks Type_A_Tiff and #1Elphie. I just checked the site and it says you have to be a member by Monday evening of the 24th. Hmm. $40 a year. I have a few hours to decide. Maybe I'll just take my chance.
Either way, I have to see them!!
ETA: I thought that meant I had until tonight to join.

Q. How do I gain access to the ticket pre-sale?
A. In advance of the tour announcement - which is planned for Monday 24th January 2005, U2.Com Subscribers will be emailed (at the email address they registered with) giving them more details on how this works, including a unique access code that will be required to take part in the pre-sale.
This unique access code will also be available on U2.com in the red info box on the Member home page.

U2.Com has a window of only a few days (details will be posted on U2.Com) before all remaining tickets go on sale to the general public.
Q. How Many Tickets Can I buy?

A. 1.Please ensure that the email you have provided in your 'My Profile' setting is easily accessible by you.
2. If you find you are not receiving emails from us on your email account, it may be because of SPAM blockers on your mail account. You need to check with your ISP to see if they have SPAM blocks, and if so ask them to remove U2. This will ensure that you do not miss this mail.
3. The unique access code will also be available in the red info box on the home page when you log into the site, the Ticket Info page available from the main navigation, and also your 'My Profile' page accessed from the main menu.
Q. What do I do if my code does not work?
A. 1. Please be sure to enter your code carefully. The codes are case-sensitive: if your password is all lower case, you must be certain not to capitalize any of the characters.
2. Check you have not exceeded the ticket limit for your code. Each code is only valid for either 2 tickets for any one (1) North America show or 4 tickets for any one (1) European show, and cannot be re-used.
3. If this does not resolve the problem, in order to contact the appropriate Customer Service Team, please follow the instructions given at the Ticketmaster website that has rejected your code.

Q. Am I able to buy tickets over the telephone?
A. Tickets will only be available via the Internet through U2.Com
Q. What are the extra charges on top of the ticket price?
A. In an unprecedented arrangement, U2.Com has secured for U2.Com Subscribers a significant reduction on the standard Ticketmaster.com convenience charge, which is levied on all ticket sales in North America - however this is limited to 10% of the capacity in each venue and this reduced levy will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
In Europe standard charges will apply where applicable.
Q. As a U2.Com Subscriber am I guaranteed the reduced convenience fee charges?
A. Whether you are able to take advantage of this reduction will depend on the venue in North America you are buying tickets for and the number of other U2.Com Subscribers who have also decided to book for that particular venue in the pre-sale.
(Please be aware that if your purchase does not have the reduced convenience fee charge, standard Ticketmaster service charges will apply and may vary from city to city, and U2.Com Subscribers will have the option of selecting from a variety of delivery methods. Some venues charge facility fees, parking fees or municipal taxes, which we have, no control over.)
In short, most U2.Com Subscribers will enjoy a significantly reduced Ticketmaster Convenience Charge per ticket when purchasing for a show in North America
I'm not sure, maybe you still can! Right now it's 12:30am on Tuesday, meaning Monday is over. What time zone are you in?

Huh - today's just Monday morning now, isn't it? Isn't it?
I'm such an idiot. I don't know why I'm a day ahead in my brain. Ignore me, sorry! I seriously thought it was Tuesday morning.
#1Elphie, I'd say go gor the pre-sale tix if you want, and if you're only planning on seeing one show. And keep in mind that subscribers get 25% off merchandise. (Then again, you're getting this advice from someone who isn't a subscriber too.)
LOL Here I was thinking I was going crazy or reading that incorrectly! :)
I'm not too clear here...Is the pre-sale code different for each member? I guess so, huh?
Yes, it looks like each member has a different code.
I'm so torn! If I sign up for the membership, does that mean that I'm not guaranteed tickets through the presale? Because they only reserve a certain number?
Yeah, you're not guaranteed a ticket. Ehhh...that's the reason I'm not buying a membership. If you're planning on buying merchandise though, then a 25% discount is great!
Eh, I'm going to bed. I'll decide tomorrow. I need sleep to make an informed decision, and I'm obviously not thinking clearly now considering I don't even know what day it is.
Well, the best view would be floor seats, which is general admission (AND the cheapest seats they're selling! ). I reckon U2.com is securing say, 10% of each price range.
I'm on the fence too about joining up. That 25% discount is tempting though. Ugh. Decisions, decisions. :P
I don't know if that's merch at the concert or merch online though.
I'm just going to take my chances with the normal ticket sale. I don't think membership is worth it.
Hope you didn't opt for the membership Elphie, because from what I've been reading all day, the vast majority of the U2 members got ROYALLY screwed! Most weren't able to get any of the GA seats, and the "Best Available" ended up being lousy $90+ seats. Looks like this is going to be a case of scalpers delight! There are hundreds of tix on eBay at 3 and 4x the face value. I even saw a guy on craigslist who was gloating at how he's already made almost five grand on GA floor seats for Boston's shows. Here's his post:
THIS IS AWESOME, $40 MEMBERSHIPS GET ME A CHANCE TO GET A PAIR OF GA-FLOORS FOR $114, THEN I TAKE MY $154 INVESMENT AND GET $400+ ON EBAY
$4700 AND COUNTING
YEA, SCALPERS ARE SUCKERS...................BIG TIME
I AM GOING TO SELL LIKE CRAZY, AND IF THEY ADD SHOWS I WILL BE ABLE TO FILL MORE ORDERS
BEING A TICKET BROKER IS ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY
WHATS THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN? I LOST 1/2 OF $114 ON 2-3 PAIRS AFTER MAKING $4700?
KISS MY ASS YOU BITCHES, DONT LIKE IT? COME OVER AND WATCH ME COUNT MY MONEY
THIS IS BETTER THAN EDDIE-McCHEDDAR @ THE FLEET
PS...... IF TICKETS GO FOR FACE AFTER I SELL, HOW DO I LOSE? I DONT
BLING BLING
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It really pisses me off because, though I'm far from the biggest U2 fan, it's totally bogus for people like this to be getting making money hand over fist like that! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a pair of GA tix this weekend, but I'm not really holding out much hope. Good luck to everyone who's trying for tix!!!
wow...I didn't sign up for membership, and I'm glad I didn't. So when I do try to buy tickets from Ticketmaster when they go on sale, should I not do "best available" if I want GA tickets? Thanks for sharing the info, mabel, that's crazy.
I was reading on u2log.com that there were a couple of people who had worked for ticketmaster in the past, and they recommended not doing Best Available. I guess it all depends on what you want for tix. If you're willing to spend an inordinate amount of time in line (which I've already done, and am more than willing to do again) then, I'd say picking GA on the drop down bar is your best bet. It looks like the GA is the best deal for the money (though if you don't get in line early, and end up way in the back, you probably won't be able to see a whole hell of a lot). If you want to be "guaranteed" good seats, you may just want to spend more and have a physical seat (Not that anything is going to be guaranteed, other than the fact that there'll likely be slim pickings at face value).
Best of luck! Keep us posted if you luck out!
Mabel! Are you trying for Boston or MSG?
That post you had made me sick. *shakes head* I'm glad I didn't get the membership though. You can only buy 1 show, 2 tickets per membership code, and there's only a small percentage of seats sectioned off for members. Good in theory, crappy for those who really would do anything for tickets.
I'm wondering what would be better - camping out at Ticketmaster/B.O., trying over the phone or online. What do you think?
