Ellie poodle, do NOT entrust only one person to buy these tix for you!!! What time are they onsale? Buy a pair yourself if you can and sell 'em if your friend gets a pair too!

I didn't get tickets. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! They seriously sold out in less than a minute. I clicked right as they went on sale and still didn't get them. I tried GA and then went back and tried best available and there was nothing. So if anyone has extra tickets to MSG, please let me know! I know more dates might go on sale, but if they release those at 10am, I won't be here because I have to go somewhere at 9:30. Arg! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Well, I am SHOCKED that they didn't add at least one extra day in NY!!! I'm so sorry Elphie! Keep your eyes peeled, because I would really, really expect them to add more before the concert actuall comes around. If not, I would also expect them to make a repeat appearance in NY in the fall, during the 3rd leg of the tour. I was tempted to try for MSG tix, but figured w/ the inconvenience it would be to try to get back to NY so soon after I head home after the spring semester, I'm really much better off holding out for a date in the fall.

Here, I just found a piece from U2.com:
Stay tuned for more information about additional dates. Paul McGuinness, U2's manager, has told U2.com, that the band intends to play more shows throughout North America, including Madison Square Garden in the Autumn.

Yeah, I read that on their website. I'm going abroad in the fall, though, so I'll probably miss that, too. I'm so disappointed. I actually DID burst into tears, mabel, when I couldn't get tickets! I'm praying that they add another MSG date in the spring; what are the odds of that? I honestly can't afford to buy a ticket on E-Bay or I would. Now I'm thinking of buying a ticket to one of their NJ concerts; there are still some available I think (there were this morning). But only really expensive tickets that aren't even that good seats at all. I don't know what to do. Should I just do that or pray for a miracle? When do you think they'll announce the new fall dates? I'm desperate to see them, they're my favorite band in the world. Decisions, decisions...

Elphie, my suggestion for now would be to browse around these two places:

Interference (link below)

and u2tours.com

I found both in the past week or so, and they are each really fan friendly, so all of the tix that surface are sold at face value. If you post there that you are looking for a ticket or two, maybe someone could hook you up. It seems like most of the crazy die hard fans WAY overbook, so I would expect that there could be someone there who might be able to help you out. Best of luck! If I had snagged a MSG ticket this morning, I'd have been more than happy to sell it to you, since catching the show there on that date wouldn't be all that convenient for me. I'm sorry that you won't be around in the fall, because I read somewhere this morning that they are going to have a bunch of dates in NY for the 3rd leg. I guess things just must have gotten screwed up when they pushed the tour back and had to change the scheduling around.

Good luck snagging a ticket somewhere! Try those two sites. A lot of people seem to be trading tix, but if you posted your situation, maybe someone could help you out!
Look under Vertigo Tour

Oh #1Elphie, I'm so sorry to hear that. I woke up early to see if there was an extra MSG show for your and Ellie's benefits (ELLIE! WELL??) and there wasn't. I know that doesn't really make you feel better. I'd burst into tears as well. Just thinking about the crap I'm gonna hafta go through in Vancouver makes me want to vomit. Check out interference (it's a great forum and very informative), otherwise pray that someone on eBay has a heart! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! BTW, apparently the U2 legal team and eBay are getting rid of some of the obscenely priced auctions. I don't know what the other auctions are still doing on there!

Mabel, where did you see the ticket swap on interference? I want to keep tabs in case Vancouver tickets are on sale at face value!

ETA: I don't remember if I read it here or interference, but is there any truth to the whole "multiple browsers cancel out your order" claims that ticketmaster.com/.ca claim?

ETA: I just checked and East Rutherford is sold out for both shows. What other options can you use, #1? I wanna help! Actually, if you check eBay, there are some tickets on the east coast that aren't selling for all that high. Granted, the auction is still ongoing, but it wouldn't hurt to place the first bid and see what happens. I can't remember what city I was looking at, but the seller has 100% rating from 154 people.

ETA: Oh my god, ticketmaster.ca just announced that Vancouver and Seattle pre-sale is tomorrow, and the general sale is this Saturday. I'm so f*cking anxious.

Aw, I'm so sorry Ellie. I know how you feel, I'm in the same boat. We can cry together on May 21st. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!
I'm so mad, I decided this afternoon that I might as well buy a NJ ticket and they were gone by then. I should have got one this morning! I almost did.
Tiff, thanks for the suggestions, I looked on E-Bay and I might place bids on some of them as they get closer to the end of the auctions if they're still at reasonable prices.
Mabel, thanks so much for posting those links. I posted on one of them and hopefully someone will feel sorry for me and sell me a ticket! MSG is pretty popular, though, and lots of people seem to be looking for tix!
Tiff, you didn't sign up for the fan-club, did you? Good luck on Saturday, I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

Tiff...the ticketswap thing on Interference is under the Vertigo Tour section, at the very bottom there's a Want section, where you can post what tix you're looking for...there's also a Have section (which I'd imagine is mostly to share w/ people the tix people bought and are using, but) there might be people in that forum posting extra tix they have. I know I've already seen one or two people selling tix for the Boston show at face value (not looking for a trade, just a flat out sale).

Ellie, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get tix either. It's crazy that they only had one date for NYC when the demand's obviously astronomical! That, and you've got to figure that a good percentage of the tix went straight to brokers/scalpers. The average fan really doesn't stand a chance!!!

I think the only advice I can give (unless you find something for FV or just a smidge above) is to wait until the date of the show draws nearer and hope that the scalpers have to lower their crazy high prices. I can see where it's tempting to want tix in hand ASAP, but I can't imagine being desperate enough to pay thousands of dollars w/in the first week that tix went on sale. They've gotta come down in price...then again, I was sure they'd add a date at MSG, so what do I know?!?!

There was something else I was going to post, but I forget. Oh well!...sorry guys. I'll keep my eyes peeled on U2tours and interference, and I'll let you know if I see anything.

Please add me to the group of people that got frozen out of U2 tickets at MSG. I am probably going to see how much ticket agents are selling tickets for at this point. If I don't have to sell a kidney, I just might do it!

So sorry MadeofGold...As mentioned before, I have heard they are expected back at MSG for the next North American leg of the tour in the fall(I know I'll be trying for tix too!). I just hope they have the sense to put more than one date up for that run (I've read there are supposed to be many, to make up for only having one this leg, but who knows!) I hope you guys can find something out there, w/out having to pay an arm and a leg! Some of these brokers and scalpers on eBay are NUTS! "Best deal" my ass! Then the other brokers who have their own sites...CRAZY! I saw some for the Fleet in a section near where I am going for $250 each! Those are pretty shoddy seats being sold at 5x the price (don't get me wrong, I'm tickled pink to have them, but that's at FV plus all of ticketbastard's "convenience" gouging!) Yikes! I even saw one place selling decent seats (like the first level from the stage) for over $1000 each! Can you imagine?!?!?!? I know it's been mentioned before on this thread, but the more I see it, the more I just can't wrap my mind around how GREEDY people are!!!

I know this is probably just plain mean to post, since a lot of you guys got screwed (though I still have faith that something will show up for you!!!) but I just found the stage setup on-line. It looks pretty cool, especially if that blip at the end of the ramp is a B Stage for an acoustic set (which is the theory I've heard) since I'm going to be way in the back!

My last post for the day since I'm detoxing myself from BWW until 3amEST.

That stage set up looks f*cking awesome. I imagine Bono will be using the run a lot, so the people in the back will still get a good view.

Mabel, what was your trick to scoring tickets quickly? Did you try for the first show and then move onto the second, third, etc. show when it was sold out?

The secret to my success was using three computers in the computer lab (at the dorms) here at school. They have high speed connection, and I had each computer pulled up w/ it's own ticketmaster page with one of the three Boston dates. I tried GA first on all of them, they went through a couple minutes of processing ("don't hit refresh or back or you'll loose your place in line") and the first one to pop up saying there was no GA available was the first date (Tues. the 24th) so I put in for $49/Balc. and it went through this mad 5-10 minute thing saying it was searching/don't refresh, etc. and the tix popped up. While I was waiting for that, I kept trying on the other two computers for the Thurs/Sat dates, but the pair on Tues. was the only one to come up for all three dates and all the different sections I tried. Since Vancouver only has one date, I'm not sure how well my strategy would work for you (though if you have access to multiple high speed computers, at school or something???) I'd suggest doing what I did, and use one for GA (if you're interested in it) and one for regular $50, one for $90, etc (as high as you're willing to spend) rather than wasting the time it takes to do one at a time. That'd be my suggestion! Good luck!!!

Off to class!

Wow, I'm sucking at this detox today. But if I'm only going onthe U2 thread, and not lurking on anything else, then I'm not really cheating, am I?

Anyway mabel, check your emails. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

I didn't initially want GA because I didn't want to camp out 2 days in advance to get close to the stage, but now that I see there's a run and the B stage, any floor seats will probably have an awesome view, right?

Do you know what the hierarchy for "best available" is? Is first one GA, second one lower tier next to the stage, then upper tier next to the stage, and then moving farther back?

Off to class too!

ETA: Jesus christ, the options are $49.40, $95 and $165?? My GOD!

Just a quickie, because I have another class in 45 min and I still need to do a quick little review thingy before...but, I just wanted to throw this in there for you Tiff. I read that people started lining up for Elevation GA's around 6am. To me, if it's a nice day and you're camping out w/ friends, that doesn't seem SO bad. I guess you won't really know until the tour starts just how early people are going to be lining up for this particular tour. Maybe earlier because everyone's raving out how great a deal it is etc. Maybe less, because the VAST majority of the GA tix seem to be sold on eBay and through brokers, and do you really think that the majority of those people spending $500/ticket are diehard U2 fans? I'm sure there will indeed be some in there, but my guess is that most of them are yuppies who have the $$ to blow on tix, and won't be willing to sit in line all day. Just a thought. Not trying to sway you either way.

Oh, and I'm not really sure what the "Best available" flow chart (if you will) is. I'd imagine GAs top it though. I read somewhere (from people who were trying for presale) that you're better off picking a specific price/seating area, as opposed to Best Available (I'm not sure if that's because BA takes longer to search and sift through, or what, but that's what I read...I don't think I ever picked BA in my searches, always chose a specific section/price range). Dunno...I'm far from a concert going/ticket buying expert. I've only been to a half a dozen concerts or so, so I'm pretty much just going by what I've read from others' suggestions!

Gotta run...

I'm not an expert on buying tickets, either (obviously), but now I'm thinking that searching for best available might be your safest bet. I tried for GA first, and that's what I think most people did. Those seem to be the hardest to get because everyone's trying for them. So if you do that and don't get lucky (like me), you have to go back and search again. And by the time I did that, everything was sold out. If you do best available, even if one section sells out, you still have other tickets available to you. Does that make sense? But I don't know the hierarchy of what is considered the "best," and I don't know how much you're willing to pay (you might end up with the most expensive tickets).

"The best thing I can say about Bono is that he was an ABBA fan."

And with THAT, Jimbo, coupled with you proclamation that Shania Twain is the queen of pop, your opinion is automatically discredited. But thank you for the spam, sir. Can you not contain it within your other 20 shill threads?

I'm so stressed over this. Vancouver pre-sale seemed to have went off without a hitch, and several interference members wound up getting tickets, even GA ones! I'm worried that if I decide to go to my practice exam on Saturday morning and entrusting this enormous responsibility to a few of my friends, I'll wind up disappointed. I'm open to buying Seattle tickets as well. I'll probably wind up hitting "best available", just in case. I'm just worried that .ca will be tied up and I should have gone to .com instead to beat the congestion for Vancouver.

What type of seats were people buying for $165? I love U2, but that seems quite steep for ****ty seats, doesn't it?

Oh, and Mabel posted this link but I thought I'd post the actual diagram of the stage set up out of general interest. (BTW, rumor has it that the part that "STAGE" is written on is actually a section that fans will stand in!!)
