The $36 back of the mez seats are great. The partial view are also $36.
U2 does not like me, apparently. That is ok though, because Mr. Todd does.
Patronus is my hero!!!
Are you guys gonna try buying partial view orch in advance or what? Is it available on Telecharge?
Tsk, tsk, sp78! What shows have you seen lately?
HURRAH 5000 posts!!!!!
Technically we would've hit this milestone a while ago, had Satan and #2Elphie not had an untimely demise.
Elliepoo? Where are you?
I feel like Santa Claus today!
It's been a pretty crappy day over all. Apparently, my former neighbor had roaches or something, so they are fumigating tomorrow.
I have had to take everything out of closets and cabinents so they could come in tomorrow.
In addition, Anji has to take Paige and Nolan (our cats) to work with her tomorrow. Ugh.
Good news though, sp78! My landlord said the fish can stay as long as I cover them up with a sheet and unplug the filter. Hopefully they won't die.
If nothing else, it's allowed me to shed a bunch of crap.
I did find two file boxes FULL of Playbills and programs that I thought I had lost though. It was great to confirm that I saw Sutton Foster as Sandy in Grease in 1995.
Your landlord WANTS you to unplug the fish filter? Why??
Ugh. Sorry Pat, that doesn't sound like fun. At least you made a great discovery, though! And I'm jealous that you saw Sutton as Sandy!
Tiff, I'm not sure what's the best way to go about getting cheap Sweeney Todd tickets. With SRO the only problem is that you never know when they'll have tickets, and I'm coming from kinda far away so I wouldn't want to come into the city and then not be able to get tickets. So I'm thinkin' buying obstructed or rear mezz is best, but I'm not sure what Nicole thinks.
If I leave the filter running, it will filter in the bug spray. Presumably by turing it off, it will help keep the fish alive.
PS. Patty, did you get that Playbill signed??
Claire, I would totally go for obstructed over rear mezz. Personally, since it's a relatively minimalist show, I found being closer helped a lot (not that it helped me stay awake for a lot of act one...). Can you get them on Telecharge/TM?
Oh, and as a warning, the ushers at that theatre are the rudest F*CKing ushers I met on my whole trip. Ridiculous.
ETA: Oh, I get it Stephen. Makes sense now.
Ok, thanks for the advice. I can't figure out TeleCharge; I think I'd have to call to get obstructed view. I didn't know you saw that show while you were in the city. Did you like it? (I guess if you were falling asleep that's a bad sign). And I'll watch out for the ushers.
I didn't. The playbills for the Fox Theatre in Atlanta are actually pretty lame. Generic image covers.
However, I am going to the closing night performance of The Drowsy Chaperone here in LA on Christmas Eve and hope to meet her and have her sign something and even have a picture taken with her. We'll see how that works out.
There is so much good theatre here in LA right now, but I am trying to get save money and get bills paid down so that I can move to NY as quickly as possible.
Even still "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with John Goodman, "The Last 5 Years" with Jason Robert Brown as Jamie, "Tick, Tick...Boom" with Wilson Cruz and Natascia Diaz and "Lestat" up in San Francisco are all pretty damned tempting.
Go with the rear mez, I have done that twice and loved it both times.
What have I seen? most everything... I'll list them if I can think of them.
Hm, who do I trust more, Tiff or SmartPenquin? I'm not sure.
Guys, I have my first substitute teaching job tomorrow! 9th grade English. Wish me luck!
I actually agree with Tiff, the closer the better, but I can't stand partial view. I feel like what I miss drives me crazy.
Subbing can actually be really fun. I never had English though. Just keep the kids from sneaking off to have sex, without them knowing that you are "controlling them" and all will be well.
I love Christmas Norbert, P.
Save that money, we know you want to move here soon!
Wow! Awesome! What's on the agenda for those angsty obnoxious little rugrats?
I hate Telecharge. I don't know why more theatres don't use TM, which I find really easy. Telecharge is just so impractical and confusing. You best call the box office!
(PS. Follow sp78's advice. I dare you. He probably knows better than me. I sat left orchestra for Sweeney though. As for what did I think of it...well, I don't know if I fell asleep because it was boring or because I was just tired that day. I stayed awake for part of the beginning and most of the end (the piercing shriek of murder and mayhem woke me up quite effectively) and I thought the performances were really strong, so...not my absolutely favorite, but I was glad to see it.
I can tell you that sp78 NEVER steered me wrong while we were in his company.
Even introduced us to some great places to eat.
I find the opposite to be true for me, I love telecharge, I find it so much easier to use, I hate ticketmaster.
Oooh, food? Where?!
My issue with Telecharge is that it lets you choose a seat option but doesn't tell you exactly what price range you're looking at, while TM lets you do both - you choose your price range, and from there you can choose what seats you want. I find that so much easier, so I don't have to keep poking in the dark to find the cheapest best seats in the house.
Perhaps "great" was a bit much.
However, since Anji and I aren't "restaurant" people we found some great deli type places that weren't over crowded and were perfect to hang out in until 2:00 am.
Don't worry, sp78. We are doing all we can to get out there as quickly as possible. I would LOVE to be there by this time next year.
My problem with ticketmaster is that you can't search for an assortment of dates at once. Since I can go anytime I want the best seat over a stretch. They need to combine the two in order to be useful.
We took P and *A* to lots of cheap places with bland food. When you come back we have to actually come up here to my side of town, I know the nooks much better here.
Bland food is the key for me! I have no interest in ruining my trip with Explosivo Diarrhea.
It looks like I am going to be working lots of overtime in order to pay bills sooner. At the very latest, I want to be living in NY on my 30th birthday.
"Ya gotta use what ya got, to get what ya want..."
I am hoping to catch Rent again before Matt Caplan leaves.
Only if SHOSH is in for Mimi that night.
I have a book you may have some interest in, I got it from TKS.
Oooh, I love TKS. It's my favorite plache!
(everyone else is wondering what the hell just happened)
I gotta make it a point to load in my In My Life audio soon. I am having "Winston Withdrawl."
That reminds me, I need to write Joe Brooks to ask for a messenger bag.
I had oodles of homework, so I didn't get to really listen to the show, but I popped Bad on after it was done downloading! Thanks, Pat! You're a peach!!!
Claire, I'm fine going for rear mezz. Shall we pick a day and have me pick them up at the box office (or if it looks like they aren't really selling, we can pick them up the day of) to avoid paying an additional $15+ in (in)convenience fees?? I think that theatre is small enough that it doesn't really matter if you're in the rear mezz.
Tonight was the last Arcade Fire show in Montreal. I guess they joined U2 on stage at some point. Woulda been cool!! Oh, and Miracle Drug reappeared tonight.
Claire, I forgot a couple of tidbits that I hid in spoilers. Brandon Flowers sang In a Little While with U2 in Vegas, and the "mother of all snippets" (after One) was ONE TREE F*CKING HILL in Oakland!!! Can you imagine?!?!? I think I would have keeled over if they'd done it in NYC! God, I love that song.
So did Arcade Fire do Wake Up, leading directly into U2's entrance? Haven't been following the Montreal set lists.
I didn't read anything about that, actually. All I saw was a blurb about them playing Streets over the PA before Arcade Fire went on. And they played Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart w/ U2 tonight...I think. Either that or they all came on stage for WOWY (it said "AF on stage" between those two songs). I haven't really been following the setlists closely, or anything, but I did pop on to the end of the setlist party after finishing up my work tonight. *shrug*
