You know, I normally feel guilty for scalping, and I think it's asinine, but I figure if I start at face value, then anything I get over that is really not my problem, right? Plus really, that'll teach U2 for being too damn famous that hotels are actually kicking up their prices! And that'll teach U2 fans for being too rich and affording those prices! Ha!

As much as I hate scalpers/brokers. I don't see selling one pair of tickets to finance a trip as being anywhere near as trashy as scoffing up hundreds of tickets and selling them on eBay w/ a buy it now of $1000+++ for a pair. That's what makes me irate...Oh especially when they say "sold out in seconds, best price." Best price my ass!...But, if I had an extra pair, I'd totally try to sell it. Oh, and be sure to charge an arm and a leg for shipping. That's another favorite of mine! $12 for an envelope w/ tix. For that price they'd better hand deliver it in a golden envelope.

Oh yeah, I'd meant to ask...did you sell your Vancouver tix for a profit or for face to friends? You could finance not only your trip to NYC but a chunk of the Europe trip w/ all those tix!

Yeah, you're forgetting that I had TWO pairs of tickets to Vancouver. Deprived loser.

Mabel, I sold my first pair of tickets (and likely the best pair - right next to the stage) at face value to someone on Interference (doing a good deed!). My second pair (which is at the other end of the arena, but first row and directly facing the stage) is on eBay right now and I don't have any bids. I think it's because I started it at face value so people are scared off by the start price when they see all these other "99c start! No reserve!" auctions. I think a lot of auctioners have lost money on that though - some people were selling lower bowl $160 seats with a $10 start price and then I've seen it top out at, like, $100.

Hmmm...it's a fine line w/ eBay, I think. If you start low, there's a good chance that people will start bidding early, possibly driving the price up...though, you do run that risk of it ending below face. Tough call. If nothing else, I'm sure you'd be able to sell it for face in interference (as nice as it'd be to make a bit of a profit!) I wonder if you'd have more luck on craigslist? Though, I'd be a smidge leary w/ that since it doesn't seem as protected as eBay (as far as I can tell).

Pity you already have so many damn tickets to see shows or you could try to trade them for other dates you could make.

I know, poor me, right? Good idea though. Maybe I should see if I can trade my Vancouver tix for Seattle 4/24 seats!

I've already got a couple of people from interference who are interested in the tickets if I can't sell them so I think I'm pretty safe. I'm still going to try for Vegas though! (I anticipate it'll be, like, Boston-level difficult to get!)

When does Vegas go on sale again? I don't feel like looking it up, and I dont't think you'd said.

I wonder if your trouble selling the Vancouver tix has anything to do w/ the timing of putting them up on eBay. There seems to be that mad rush right after they go on sale (if you get LV, I'd say that's when to do it...when the crazies are all paniky about not having tix yet, and want to have some guaranteed ASAP). I bet as it's getting really close to the event date, people are haning on more, hoping for releases on TM.)

I think you're absolutely right about timing being everything. I remember the same day that Vancouver tickets went on sale, a couple of hours later I check on eBay and saw seats behind the stage (the cheap ones, limited view, half the price of my $95 pair) selling for over $300! Right now is the lull, I believe. I should have sold earlier. I'm definitely going to sell LV on the same day or the day after they go on-sale. Once I find out a definite sale date, I'm going to start writing up my ad so I can get it on there ASAP!

Hmmm...I just took a quick peek on U2tours and interference, and I guess all that's "confirmed" yet is that they concert's scheduled for November 4th. I thought it had all been scheduled w/ the presale/gen sale in the next few days. I guess the public sale for Oakland was this morning.

And don't cry Tiff...however thin the line between the slimey scalpers/brokers who are running rampant and the fans who are selling to finance their own trips...you're safely on the not-so-shady side!

Hey - wouldn't it be great if Bono was elected Pope? Now, I know that is unlikely, but it is possible. There's no rule that says you have to be a priest/cardinal - the only requirement is to be Catholic, and male. So y'never know.
