Trump's speech. Oy.
Climate change biggest con in global history, Europe going to hell, Mayor of London wants to introduce Sharia Law, etc. etc.
How is America even taken seriously anymore?

On the plus side, people were messing with him the whole time he was there, turning the escalators off when he approached and--oops!--his teleprompter wasn't working for his speech.

That was one of the most disgraceful speeches I have heard in my lifetime. I stopped trying to count all the lies. Everyone in that room should have walked out. I’m sure Seb wet himself with ecstasy.
The left are to blame for this, but of course. Acknowledging the existence of trans people is a MUCH bigger dealbreaker, we all know that. The dangerous ramblings of this hurricane of pure evil are of no consequence compared to the Great Pronoun Scare.
I'd forgotten it was scheduled for today, but Trump not only embarrassed the US, he also pre-empted the opening 10:39 of "The View". Today's guest? Kamala Harris.
He didn't cut into any of Harris' time, but he did manage to wipe the complete segment of opening discussions, which appear to have included commentary re: the false information about acetaminophen.

Reporting suggests the only people messing with Trump in this regard would have been his own people. Who knows for sure?
Excerpt about the escalator:
"White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted a tweet later, demanding an investigation into whether someone had intentionally halted the escalator.
"But according to someone familiar with the situation, someone in the president’s own entourage accidentally tripped the emergency stop.
"They were able to quickly reset it and move on, but the president’s UN challenges didn’t stop there, a source told The Daily Beast."
Excerpt about the teleprompter:
"However, a person with knowledge of the situation revealed that delegations are allowed to bring their own laptops and teleprompter operators, and the UN was not running it for Trump’s speech.
"The source said that the White House had its own laptop, and UN technicians were not in the booth for the president’s address."
Incompetents is all he hires.

Do you mean… what I think you mean?

Oh, it will happen. Looking forward.
Hypothetically… if that were to happen, would things improve? I'm not so sure.

Why don't you step up, tough guy?

He is 100% right about at least 2 of these things.
Do you have any idea what is happening in Europe?

SteveSanders, I don't know where you came from (looks like you've only been here a few months), but I always appreciate your input and I'm glad ur here.
I think Steve used to post under a different name. Which is fine, I'm just curious as to what it was!

The way some people over-react and lash out makes it unwelcoming here some days, so I appreciate your kind words. I'm sure my somewhat dispassionate and evidence-based tone rubs some the wrong way, but it is a significant part of my professional demeanor and tends to spill over into my interactions here.

I mean that someone has to do whatever needs to be done to restore competent leadership, using the minimum level of force necessary.

You are incorrect. I once was very active on TheatreBoard, but that was when I was based in London and periodically coming to the US. Now it is the reverse.
Oh, okay. My theory was based on you saying that you had forgotten how exhausting I am. I hadn't even posted since before your join date. Anyway, it's not important.

Trump took an oath of office (although for all the "God bless's" he tosses around as if they held meaning for him, he did NOT place one hand on the Bible) stating that he would faithfully execute the duties of the office and to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.
Trump has violated that oath - repeatedly. Impeachment by Congress is the mechanism for addressing his violations, as it allows for the removal of a president from office for misconduct.

I bolded the qualities I appreciate. I would edit, "dispassionate" in favor of "level-headed" or "even-keeled", however.
You also humbly left out any mention of your knowledge base. But enough about you. Let's talk about me.
EDIT: I'm also enjoying Jonathan Cohen's contributions. Looks like he's been around since '18. Where have you consistently level-headed, smart people been hiding yourselves?

Do you expect that to work in the near future? Like, this year maybe?
If not, then the Constitution provides for other ways to remove tyrants from power.

I really don't know. I hope so.
The Right is beginning to vocalize their disagreement as Trump becomes more Hitler-esque. After the litany of insanely evil insults and personal brags (taunts, really) Trump unleashed on the UN and its members, I hope there will be more demonstration of agreement and action from the Right that Trump needs to go.
Re: "the Constitution provides for other ways to remove tyrants from power." I only know of the ways the Constitution prevents a tyrant from taking power (many of which Trump is dismantling). What am I missing?

The 2nd Amendment! In theory, this is exactly what the founding fathers had in mind.
(CIA, secret service... if you're reading... I do not necessarily endorse this...) :)
