Inside addition NOW!

I posted this as it was on so I guess nobody caught the 3 minutes it was on. It basically quickly interviewed 2 people from the movie- A real pilot and real flight attendant who portaryed the real pilot and flight attendant on Flight 93.

They feel that they were 'hand picked' for this movie.

Basically, that's all it was.

I'm a Chicagoan. I watched the day unfold on tv at work. I was transported to New York for several days, but as an onlooker who could do nothing to help. My heart hurts to this day. No, I physically didn't run from the dust and debris, but I cried for everyone that I witnessed on tv that did. And I cheer New Yorkers to this day for their strength. Let them make movies about it. Let people remember. This may sound simple and banal, but it is a very difficult subject to express. Will I see the movie? Not sure.

I know this sounds insincere in retrospect--and robbie mentioned not being fond of a friend of his for feeling this way, but not only were we all hurting for NY and DC and all those directly affected around the world, those of us in major cities didn't know if we were next or not. I was living in Houston--THE city that has everything on an enemy's checklist. It was a day, week, month of our world being turned upside down. Losing our naivete about so many things.

Even those people in rural America who would seem to be last on a target list had a new world to grapple with and the fear that maybe just maybe if they can hit us like they did that day, they could and would hit us anywhere.

And this is, of course, the climate that the current admin took advantage of using so many fear tactics to get us to give in to laws and procedures and wars we wouldn't have agreed to otherwise.

And, I should stop there as that begins a very controversial debate that I just don't want to venture into at the moment! :)

Good idea no one unless they were there would ever really know what 9/11 was like for those attacked. It was different for those in nyc and dc - not to be rude but it was. Hell is was an attack. Words cannot explain what people had to endure that day, compared to those lucky enough to watch it on tv at home.

No one is trying to say it isn't different for those that were in NYC or DC that day. But that should not belittle what the rest of the country went through.

Yes. Anyone who sat in front of their TV and watched this tragedy unfold was truly lucky. ?????????????????????????

All I'm saying is that it was different did i mention anything about belitting the rest of the country? and in comparison YOU WERE LUCKY TO WATCH IT ON TV, What would have rather have been there? I think not! Did you have people you love die? I did, I went to more funerals then i'd like to recall. I know the country went through a major crisis, who doesn't? I just made a comment on the trajedy from the perspective of those in the middle of it.

I don't get this need to stand up and say 'my experience was worse than yours..."

My experience was different than yours, I don't know if it was better or worse. I would not have wanted to be in NYC at that time, even worse knowing anyone who might have been in the towers.

But I was in Costa Rica on vacation... Away from the place I call home. Freaking out because my sister was supposed to be on a plane leaving NYC that morning. Worried because I had to fly back within a week. Stranded for a week, granted, with my parents, not knowing when I'd be getting back to MY home. Taking a plane on the first day international flights were allowed was incredibly creepy.

I'm not saying it compares to what those in NYC lived, but it was one of the toughest times in MY life.

You are taking everything out of perspective. This always happens I can't talk about what i went through without some one accusing me that what i went through was WORSE, stop slamming someone who went through serious PAIN and have some compassion. And you get to tell YOUR story and no one is going to slam you. I understand what you went through alot of my friends did, i understand. END OF TOPIC

I'm going to work my butt off to see this movie this weekend. On Friday I have to help my class decorate for prom, but I doubt that will take ALL day. Saturday is prom so i can basically nix seeing it then, so Sunday is my last resort. I want to go on Friday but I'm going to need someone to go with me or else I might no be able to handle it.
Anyway, now that I have told you my story of the weekend I am going to say that I am on your side Jerby, I agree with everything you have said in this thread. The part about people all over America fearing that they could be hit especially rang true. I'm from a nowhere town near Tallahassee, FL, and I'm pretty sure I was convinced that since the President's brother is the governor that we were going to be hit. I had dreams about that for weeks until I realized that that probably wasn't enough of a reason for my area to be attacked.

Okay so once again this has pretty much just been me rambling, so, um... carry on.

I can understand if others want to see this, but I find the making of it really distasteful. If others disagree, that's totally fine because I can see the whole "honor their memory, blah blah blah" point, too.

I can't imagine sitting in a theatre watching this. Just seeing a still of it on the cover of one of today's Chicago papers gave me chills and reminded me of that day and made me ill. I will absolutely not see this. I may never. I know how courageous those people on that plane were. I don't need to see it reenacted, however tasteful or respectful it is.

I just saw it. I don't really know what to say about it. I'm not much of a reviewer, so I'm basing this just off of my feelings about the movie. I thought it was amazing, but just extremely tragic (really no kidding?). I honestly don't know what to say except when the movie ended I was shaking. I have never been like that in any movie.. I was just shaking and crying and I felt like I was about to throw up. That movie was so moving-- I'm happy that they made it. Those people were so close to saving their lives-- they were up there on the Hero scale with the firefighters that day. It was really powerful. That's it. I don't know how many people are going to agree with me that it was a good thing they made it, but that's my opinion so yeah. I'm done.

As far as I'm concerned, it's propaganda. How does anyone really know what went on aboard that plane? I mean, other then the cell phone calls to loved ones and 911 operators, how does anyone REALLY know what took place. No doubt there were at least a handful of passengers who, after hearing the Trade Center towers had been hit by planes, decided to take matters into their own hands by desperately attempting to overtake the highjackers. But beyond that, it's all speculation. Personally, I don't believe that anyone on the plane was responsible for bringing it down. I've always believed that it was brought down by our military. But, we'll probably never know for sure. I have no interest in experiencing someone's imagined version of these events. Frankly, and I know this is a controversial opinion to have; I'm tired of all of the hero worship associated with 9-11. It was a devastating and horrific tragedy that I watched unfold live on my living room T.V. in NYC. Innocent people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time lost their lives. Unfortunately, it happens every day to thousands of people all over the world.

It was made with acceptance from EVERY SINGLE family member of each victim.

If anybody in the family of these victims didn't want this movie, it would NOT have been made.

Better yet, once the movie was shown to the audience of the victims, it recieved a standing ovation (in the movie theater)

We all still can (and will) have our opinions but I think the most important thing is that the family members of the victims wanted this movie and are "happy" with its outcome.

"Personally, I don't believe that anyone on the plane was responsible for bringing it down. I've always believed that it was brought down by our military. But, we'll probably never know for sure. I have no interest in experiencing someone's imagined version of these events. "

And yet, you choose to believe this imagined version of the events. You contradict yourself, and I wonder if you truly know what the word "propaganda" means. Clearly propaganda has influenced you to believe the military took it down because as you already said, "we'll probably never know for sure".

How many great films and plays have been made by imagining what might have happened based on the only facts that we have been given? Would you have been happier if this film was more like the end of Clue? "If you don't like that ending, TRY THIS!"

I said it was my PERSONAL belief that the plane was taken down by our military, but that we would probably never know for sure. If I were making a film depicting that as fact, it would be propaganda. But I'm not.

"Would you have been happier if this film was more like the end of Clue? "If you don't like that ending, TRY THIS!"

No. I would have been happier if it hadn't been made at all.
