Kate and Leo have had very mixed opinions about the film over the years. Leo first said that it wanted to make him quit acting due to being a teenage heartthrob, "It was pretty disheartening to be objectified like that. I wanted to stop acting for a little bit," he said at the magazine's Oscar panel discussion with other actors. "It changed my life in a lot of ways, but at the same time, I can't say that it didn't give me opportunities. It made me, for the first time, in control of my career."

But the other week in the UK's source, The Sun, he said, "But I am so glad to be part of that movie. Years from now, people will still be watching that film.

"I am part of something historical, in a lot of ways. It gave me so many opportunities, as an actor, to steer the course of my own destiny.

"I was able to take both my mother and grandmother to the world premiere of Titanic in London — one of my proudest moments."

Although Kate made a liflong friend in Leo, she on the other hand said she would never work for James Cameron again because she nearly drowned, came down with flu and chipped a small bone in her elbow. "He's a nice guy, but the problem was that his vision for the film was as clear as it was. He has a temper like you wouldn't believe. There were times I was genuinely frightened of him."

The other day on a talk show that after she saw a sneak peak and her response was, "Oh God, make it stop! Is that me? Oh my God, that’s me. Block my ears, somebody! Somebody club out my senses. Make it f***ing stop!" But she say that, "A whole new generation is going to get to experience the film. 'It's very exciting that I can actually sit with them (her children Mia, 11, and eight-year-old Joe) - together - and we can all watch it in a movie theatre. That is going to be quite amazing, actually."

In the last month Kate Winslet has basically turned into Christopher Plummer by making strange and unesscary jokes about her most successful film. I didn't think anyone could top Plummer calling a great film like "The Sound of Music" a name like "The Sound of MUCUS," but Kate's jokes are pretty darn close or equal.

She said that listening to "My Heart Will Go On" makes her want to throw up.

Did the retouch around the people floating in the water? You could tell the background was a green screen because the way the light hit them.

I get why they want to put the past behind them, especially when they're so identified with it. I agree that Kate's "sloughing off" is similar to Plummer's, too.

There's the other side of the coin that thankfully neither one of them face ... being remembered for a classic bomb that follows you around, like Valley of the Dolls (Patty Duke) or Showgirls (Elizabeth Berkeley). At least they don't have to come to terms with that.

Kate and Leo are best friends, so I actually think it's funny that she says she was fat then and he was thin, and now it's the reverse. I can almost see her nudging him in the ribs when she says it. (And obviously neither example is extreme ... but the "slight pounds" have reversed.)

I haven't seen this 3D incarnation yet, but I did watch the movie again about a year ago. I have always been taken by the historical side of it more than the love story, although I like the romantic side of it, too. I think it's a damn fine movie that manages to merge "Masterpiece Theatre" with "disaster movie" as well as can be done. I think that's why it was such a huge hit, too. It worked for so many different audiences, and they all went to see it. Many, many times.

Kate Winslet has a wicked sense of humor, I don't take any of these comments seriously at all, she's so humble and down to earth. Plus, what's wrong with disliking a film you did decades ago when you were starting out? And yes, it might be her most successful film to date, but it's not like she hadn't been in a good movie before or like she hasn't been in one after. I highly doubt Winslet is acting like her SH*T doesn't stink, she's just recognizing that she doesn't have to be reverential towards a movie just because people expect her to.

I was going to say the same thing. None of her comments are putting anything down or belittling the film, the fans, or the experience. She and the film became instant sensations overnight and that lasted for a very long time so she's just having a bit of fun with it, just like anyone would do.

I've seen it three times in the theater again now and love it each time. It amazes me that even having seen it as many times as I have over the years, every time I watch it I still hope they're going to be ok. I think that's the mark of great storytelling.

And as for the paintings, I was watching the historical DVD commentary and they said the paintings are painted "in the style" of the artists and "similar to the ones known", so it would be logical that a version of them could have been painted and sold.

I also think it's "great storytelling" in that halfway through the movie, I'm caught up in the love triangle and other historical elements so much that I forget the ship is going to sink. It happened the first time I saw the movie and every time since.

It may be ham-handed and clumsy to some, but for me, it works.

And Here Is Kate Winslet In EXTRAS.

I saw it today and while I adore the movie and certainly had my fair share of Leo pics on my binder, I didn't think the 3D added anything at all. In fact I would have enjoyed the film just as much in its original form for about $5 less.

Great film, and I'm with the others on here who remember every line of dialogue, and I definitely caught more things now that I'm older.

Amusing anecdote, pretty soon after my family bought the 2 VHS set we lost the first tape, so we just watched the ship sink over and over and over again. I did remember all of the beginning part though!
