I thought the 3-D added just enough depth to the film for another layer of enjoyment.

I went and saw this tonight. It didn't occur to my friend and I that it was the 100 year anniversary, so when they started mentioning dates we were shocked to realize that EXACTLY 100 years ago at the same time the ship was going down... This was my first time seeing Titanic on the big screen, and I thought that they did a GREAT job with the 3D. It was not over the top or headache inducing. It was beautifully done. The last time I saw the movie on DVD I was quite a bit younger, so seeing it tonight was almost like my first time seeing it since I missed a lot of stuff earlier on. Overall, this is one gorgeous film with some of the most beautiful storytelling I have seen on the big screen. I don't remember the last time I have left the movies being so struck by what I just watched. The picture of Rose standing in the rain on the boat looking up at the Statue of Liberty gave me chills. I really want to see this again in 3D because I seriously LOVED it.

Saw this on the Friday after it opened in IMAX and going again tonight with one of my friends who hasn't seen it yet. It's one of my all-time favorite movies (saw it 3 times in theaters when I was 7/8 and countless times on VHS, DVD, and TNT), so seeing it on the big screen again almost 15 years later was intensely exciting for me.
The 3D conversion is absolutely gorgeous. I'm a supporter of 3D when it's done well and, in my opinion, James Cameron is still the only person who has gotten it right. One of my biggest qualms with 3D conversion is that it dulls the film's brightness, but Cameron somehow manages to avoid that here and it truly makes all the difference. The usage of 3D honestly puts you right in the action, whether it's an intimate two-person scene or the (still, after all these years, breathtaking) climax, you feel completely immersed in the movie. There is so much depth added. It takes the moviegoing experience to a whole new level.
Is it as good as it would have been had they filmed in 3D? No. Though I am curious as to how that would look - stunning, no doubt. But this is by far the best post-filming conversion to date and sets the bar insanely high for future 3D releases. Bring on Avatar 2!
I saw the re-release in theaters today and I was VERY IMPRESSED. At the beginning of the film I really did feel like I was there underwater exploring the ship. The "I'm Flying" scene was STUNNING and the parts with the water rising in the ship seemed more real than before.
Billy Zane and David Warner performaces as Cal Hockley and Spicer Lovejoy were more villaionous than I remembered. Kathy Bates is still terrific as Molly Brown. I also remembered that this film made me fans of Kate and Leo's acting. Gloria Sturat gave an excellent performance as well. R.I.P.
There are some cheesy lines in the script, yes. However, the film is a classic. It really did leave a mark in the entertainment industry.

The Oscar-sweeping epic will be available as a four-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack in both 2-D and 3-D formats, with 2.5 hours of bonus footage including a National Geographic documentary in which director James Cameron explores the wreckage of the actual Titanic. The special features will also be stocked with 30 deleted scenes, more than 60 behind-the-scenes featurettes, three commentary tracks, and 2,000 photos. For the first time, Titanic fans can download the film digitally so they’ll never have to let go of their favorite film."
