War of the Worlds

I saw an early screening of this last night, and it was great! No disappointment for me at all. So do not hesitate to see it.

Oh, and Miss Fanning is quite the actress.

re: War of the Worlds

What's with all of the "secrecy" over midnite showings tonite? Seems you can't buy them online--and they aren't even listed (except sorta on yahoo), but buzz online is that there will be showings tonite. I'm gonna go by the Ziegfeld and then Loews if need be to see about getting tickets for tonite.

Anyone know anything about this?

re: War of the Worlds

Jrb,
I don't know anything about secret screenings tonight. I have a Industry screening which is pretty standard issue with new movies. I do know they also have them in NY because Addy seems to go to them almost at the same time I do.

re: War of the Worlds

I do not know about that...I just saw an early screening because a good friend of mine works at the movie theatre, and thet always show the movies two nights before they open to employees and friends.

re: War of the Worlds

well, I don't mean that they are secret--just that they supposedly aren't announcing public midnite showings until today/tonite? which is odd. Very odd.

It may be that the first public showings are indeed tomorrow morning. Which makes me cry a little. ;P

re: War of the Worlds

Since I no longer go to movies, I have to wait for video or cable.

Maybe the Martians will zap Cruise & shut him up already. I fondly remember the 1950's version. While the effects were than cutting edge (Academy Award) it was disconcerting to visibly see the wires holding up the machines

Can not be better than the classic novel. So I most likely will not go.

Sorry, I'm boycotting Tom Cruise.

Hmmmm... I do wonder how many people he has ticked off and are now planning on a boycott of his movies?

There are no midnight showings listed near me. Not that I'd go; I'm not giving that a**wipe my money.

I hate to admit that even though it stars Tom Cruise and all the Scientology crap, I am probably still going to see it.

re: War of the Worlds

It is not a Tom Cruise movie. It is a Steven Speilberg movie.

And THAT, dear DAME, is exactly why I'm going to see it.

Can't wait to hear your review...

re: War of the Worlds

As always, DAME is the voice of reason. You go to see it because it is Speilberg & War of the Worlds. You hold your nose over Cruise. I guarantee Paramount & Speilberg are saying Oy Vey whenever Cruise opens his mouth & puts his foot in again. I pit his poor fiancee. He is one sick puppy

Regretfully, I have to wait for video to see it. Oh well

re: War of the Worlds

So far, "War of the Worlds" is getting praise across the board. Not only is it being hailed as one of Spielberg's finest achievements, but Cruise and Fanning are getting some of the best reviews of their careers (though one is shorter than the other).

Wow... time warp. You're already back... cool. I'm thinking of going tomorrow night at some point, there's a theater that does't get too busy down the street from my apt.
