So I'm going on a date this weekend and wondering which one we should see. We definetly want a comedy and these look like the only ones out now other than Despicable Me 2. I saw the first Grown Ups and thought it was eh, I laughed sometimes but didn't love it. And I love Jason Sudekis and think he's very funny. Suggestions would be great!
If you can find The Heat, go see that. Not sure how many theaters it's in.
I know the reviews weren't the greatest, but I laughed MY ASS OFF at "We're the Millers".
madbrian: Unfortunately The Heat isn't anywhere near me. I saw it though. It was so freaking funny. I love Melissa McCarthy so much. I would see her in anything.
Are you old enough to date?
I thought We're the Millers was pretty funny, if stupid. My friends and I couldn't stop laughing.
Comedies have been in short supply this summer sadly.
I really liked 2 Guns.
Go see MILLERS. You won't have no ragrets.
Theatrediva: Uhhh that's really none of your business but since you asked I'm 19 so I'd say yes I am. Maybe I'll check out Millers, any thoughts though on Grown Ups 2?
So you can solicit our advice on your dating, how to get free stuff while on vacation and other things but asking something as simple as your age is off limits? Got it!
See, I didn't even ask if he was taking a guy or a girl, because it would be a different answer for each.
People on anonymous Internet theater message boards can be so tough.
That's why you use tenderizer.
To the OP: go see Kick Ass 2.
^ I never saw the first Kick Ass, not that it would probably make a difference. And theatrediva I know I said I was going on a date but it really didn't have anything to do with the question. If someone maybe said "We're the Miller is bad for a date" then I would've taken that into consideration. But I wasn't intentionally asking about good movies for dates. And you're reply just wasn't necessary. It had nothing to do with my post.
"But I wasn't intentionally asking about good movies for dates."
You said you were going on a date, so it sounded like you were looking for a 'date film'. Maybe you should be more clear, next time.
"And you're reply just wasn't necessary. It had nothing to do with my post."
So?
Maybe I think your whole post 'wasn't necessary', but it's on a public chat board...
Okay well if you found it unnecessary you didn't need to take the time to read it or comment on it. Nobody said you had to read every single thread. Whether you wish to or not is your choice.
Yes. And it's a message board, so I can post what I like.
If you don't like what I post, then keep it to yourself.
You are the one going on about it...
Cant we all be nice to each other? Snark gets old
Whatever I just didn't think there was a need for your original post. Anyway, I know people like the Millers, but the trailer just looks ok. Jason Sudekis could probably make it funny but it just looks ok. Any thoughts on Grown Ups 2? I couldn't find a thread on it although I'm sure if there was one someone would love to correct me on that.
I get the feeling what you really want to see is Grown Ups 2 since you keep asking about it.
From what I've heard, it's your basic Adam Sandler and co. comedy.
So, if you liked the first one then you'll probably like the sequel.
I also understand that this one is more family oriented, so I'd expect less raunchy humor.
But my honest opinion is that you should go see something that's good. There are some really good films out that would probably inspire some meaningful conversation over dinner, or whatever you planned after.
It's not even that I want to see it. Both look eh. I asked him what movie he wanted to see and he said a comedy and that I should choose. I'll probably go see the Millers since people were saying it was funny but no one really said anything about Grown Ups 2 so I was wondering. I appreciate your help.
Neither of them will get you laid.

I saw Grown Ups 2 and MUCH to my displeasure, it was a no-fly screening. So in the scene where he normally flies at the rock quarry he just stood there and the rest of that cast make "Ahhhhh" noises. VERY disappointing. Luckily I'd seen it three times (but didn't really like it except for the flying scene) and a friend gave me the tickets for free.
We're the Millers looks ghastly but during that scene where the boy gets bitten by the spider and says "I can't feel my Bingo" you can lean over to your date and say "You however, can feel mine whenever you want!"
I agree with Taz about seeing something good, especially on a date. You don't want to see a bad/so-so movie; one or both of you could be bored or worse, in pain and that doesn't make for a fun time or good conversation afterward.
It's a not truly a comedy, although often very funny, but why don't you go to Blue Jasmine? It's an EXCELLENT film and should give you something to discuss over drinks later.
