Hey everybody --
Just a little Amazon update: seems like they've sorted out their issues and all is well there now. Also, the official book page is now available for user reviews to be posted. If those of you who have read the book would consider sharing your thoughts about the book there, it could help generate more interest in other people reading it. I hope that's not too shillish of me to ask of you.
I've heard from my local pr rep here in Chicago that the Oak Park Barbara's is not the biggest venue imaginable, so it might be a little cramped if turnout is good. Those of you in Chicagoland be aware... It'll be my first official bookstore event, so I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope that it won't be too tight and chaotic. Although that would be a nice problem to have.
On the subject of elephants, Rodney and I rode on an elephant in Thailand. I've always been drawn to elephants, having been a huge Babar fan when I was a little kid. Just wanted to jump in on the thread a little.
I'm going to keep saying it over and over again: thanks for opening your hearts to my book and appreciating what I was trying to accomplish with it.
Talk soon --

HORSES! Yay. We have seven Only two are mine...and one of them actually belongs to my sister, but she doesn't want her.
Mandi, you're killing me, you know that, right?
Y'all are making me want the book. And wanting a book is one thing I've never had to deal with. I owe money to three people right now, but as soon as I get back on track, I'll get it maybe. After the Rent DVD. Does the book have one of those what's it? The removable covers? Um. Dust jacket or something.

Heh. I didn't know I had an anecdote on elephants, but I remember crying when my brother was born because I wanted my mom to name him Babar. I told her that the devil wanted her to name him Christopher. To this day, I stand by that being the reason he's so freakin' evil.
Elephants are just the coolest animals. I too had MUCH love for Babar when I was little, as well as the Elephant Show (Sharon, Lois, and Bram).
I will TRY to write a good review, I swear, as soon as I can figure out how to string together two sentences about this book that aren't just me babbling like an idiot.
