Pizza, for me, was always tied with school. You got pizza parties for all the parties. You got pizza for doing book reports. You read textbooks with pages made out of pizza. To me, pizza had always had a connotation of edumacation and learning. Pizza would cause your brain to grow. It would give you skills. Did you know that in the film, Phenomenon, John Travolta was originally going to grow his powers as a result of eating potent pizza

When I was very young I would not touch pizza. I though it was disgusting -- cheese and meat on bread crust. No way. Then I accidentally ate a pizza flavored potato chip. After that I couldn't eat enough pizza. For my 10th Birthday party I told my Mom that I wanted to have my party at the local pizza joint.

A reliably random question from Cruel, but now that you mention it I have absolutely no recollection of my first experience with that cheesy pie.

There have been so many over the years....I guess my first time wasn't that special.

I don't have a clue where or when I met pizza, but as my signature says, I crave it. It is now, always has been, and probably will be forever, my favorite food. And it's not a junk food.

Yeah it's not really junk food but it kind of occupies that delicious space between the junk and the good stuff. Pizza reveals things about our childhood that few other foods do. I cannot say, though I love it so, that the mighty bubble tea does.

There has always been pizza. ALWAYS. I DO remember that my dad didn't believe that pizza was a MEAL. We only had it as a late night snack. It was a big deal for us to go out for pizza.

Here in New England pizza is not that good. (Well, if you go into the South End of Boston, certainly.) Most of the pizza places are Greek.

I wondered how my kids (who love the pizza they've grown up with) would like NY pizza (which I grew up on and love). I remember their first time eating Pizza in NY and how excited they were about how delish it was.

That being said, Friday in our house is pizza and a movie night. AND my son eats the disgusting school pizza almost every week on fridays too.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I alwaysremember being 4 years old and my Grandparents talking me down to a pizza shop in Stamford where the guys would throw the dough in the air in a large picture window. I would watch transfixed and then we would go inside and have a pie.
Later Pizza would be the bribe my step-father used on me and my brother when he was courting my mom.

For a while when I was about six or seven, a weird old lady used to babysit me and every day she'd zap these horrible saucer-sized microwave mini-pizzas to a cinder and then empty out a can of tuna on top to healthy them up. They were revolting.

I haven't thought of that in years. Ah, memories.

Ahhhh, my first memories of pizza... I was very young, just walking down the street, minding my own business and there she was, hanging out with 7 of her friends. I looked at her. She looked goooood. I said "hey baby" but she didn't even respond. Wow, she's a crusty one I thought. But I couldn't take my eyes off of her and then she smiled, with that saucy smile of hers. I made a bad joke and she laughed. I guess she was into cheesy humor. Then this dude Stromboli came by, maybe it was her boyfriend but I told him to get lost, she was all mine. I said "hey baby, let's get out of here" but I intuitively knew not to try to box her in, she was one that needed to be free. She folded her body into my hand like we were made to fit together and we walked out of that place as one. My life was never the same.

Seriously, I couldn't tell you if my life depended on it when was the first time I ate pizza. But I can tell you there are few things I enjoy eating more today than a good slice of real New York pizza.

As a snack, I love thin crust pizza, but as a meal I really enjoy Chicago Deep Dish.

Thin crust, definitely! Problem is I have only found one place in Little Italy that does it right, crispy crust, well spiced, tangy tomayto sauce, and GOOD mozerella cheese. I have found many places that get two out of the three correct, though only Sal's meets the trifecta,.

I don't remember where I first had pizza. But, for my family, we either ordered in from some small place or went to Pizza Hut. Though, I do remember after going to some pet care seminar when I was little with Girl Scouts. Some vet showed us pictures of animals going into surgery and I thought the guts reminded me of the cheese and sauce from Pizza Hut pan pizza. I refused to eat that for so long. The strange thing is, eating the thin and crispy didn't freak me out or pizza from somewhere else. I forget why I finally was not afraid to eat it and when.

And I do recall one time I got so excited because it looked like my dad brought home pizza for dinner. No, he just used a box to carry something in it. I was upset because mom made something less desirable for dinner instead.

OMG I remember that horrible school cafeteria pizza. It was some kind of cheese (God only knows what kind -- it was orange colored) with ground beef sprinkled on top and spread on some kind of crust that they would cut into square pieces. I can't believe I used to eat that sh*t!

Oh the lunch ladies! A friend of mine came to a Halloween party a few years ago dressed as a school cafeteria lunch lady. She had a basket filled with those awful yeast rolls and butter pats which she handed out. Hilarious!

My mom is a stay-at-home mom, and she would always cook the most delicious dinners, to which I am forever grateful. But we have a tradition of Friday night being Pizza night. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. It's funny because if something happened (like going out to a restaurant Friday) and we had pizza on a Thursday or Saturday me and my sis would get so disoriented as kids. Now in my first year of college, I still get it every Friday :)

My father would get a pizza every Friday night so my mother wouldn't have to cook.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

At this moment I'm eating English Muffin pizzas. Put tomato sauce on an English muffin and put it in the oven for a few minutes. When the English muffin is crisp, add a slice of Velveeta and pull out when the cheese is melted.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
