Dead and asshole.

My mom died when I was 10, I called her mommy (when I was little) or mom.
My dad died when I was 16, he was daddy (again when I was little) or dad.
My in-laws, for an odd and wonderful twist of fate I have known LONGER than my own parents, I proudly call them mom and dad!

My mother's name is Andrea Marie, and I started calling her that, then Dre Marie, now it's just "DreMar."
My dad is usually "Gravy" - long story.

Mother and father...which I know is bizarrely formal, especially because I have a good relationship with both of them. My mother and I are particularly close.

For my mom - Mom, Madre, Mambo Italiano.
For my dad - usually just "hey," but today I called him Daddy because he gave me money. I'm shallow.

Even though Ivan's mom considers me a second son, she hasn't called me that, and I haven't called her mom. I don't have the guts. Yet.

Colleen - my brother, sister and I have always referred to our parents as 'Mother' and 'Father' - it does seem a little stuffy, doesn't it?
I kind of wish we had the kind of money that that type of address implies

My dad hates his name. So, when my partner asked what he should call him, my dad said, "Whatever you want is fine, but I hate my name." Well, my father's middle name is "Morton," which is even WORSE than his first name. So, we were joking around with him one day, and started calling my dad "Morty," which he thought was funny.
So now (and for the past 8 or 9 years), we've both called my dad "Morty." It totally stuck, and he still thinks it's funny and digs it.
And Mom is "Mom," or once in a while "Mama." (But I usually stutter that, ala Merman in her breakdown moment from "Rose's Turn." It plays better that way.)

Still Mommy and Daddy...I've never called them anything else. It would be such an awkward transition for me to all the sudden start calling them Mom and Dad, and I don't know if that's going to change anytime soon.

Usually Mom. Mother when I'm being sarcastic. Mommy when I'm sick.
Dad 99% of the time, Daddy when I want something.

For my mom, I call her Gina, Mom, Momster, b!tch, or gina marie. We have more of a friendship than a mother/daughter relationship. For my dad, Joejoe, fasha, or just dad.
