oh I can relate........when I bought tickets to Hairspray in LA for next month, I bought them for the Saturday matinee....and I meant to buy the Sunday........fotunately they exchanged them.
That happens SO often. It's especially fun when you have people already in the seats, and then the ones with the wrong date are insisting they get up!
That happened to me by a week! I had tickets for a concert, and had the date totally wrong. My friend and I were getting ready to leave, and when I pulled out the tickets, I realized they were for the previous week. *sigh*
but, dreamer, how was the concert?
I heard from people that actually showed up on the right day that it was great.
Oh, Elphaba, the Shaiman love overflows...Hairspray and Woo!
That IS Woo in your avatar, isn't it?

I did that with train tickets in high school. I had a layover in Chicago, and had it in my head that the second train left an hour later than it did. Luckily, it was in the middle of winter (not the most pleasant time to walk around Chicago), so I'd gone back to the station early and happened to look at the sign to see if a gate was posted yet. Instead, I saw that the train was boarding! My stuff was in a locker, and at the time you could only use quarters to get them out. I had to have looked like a such a crazy girl, because I was racing through the station trying to find a place to get quarters. I did make the train, though!

How would they let you into a show if it were the wrong date? I mean, it's all electronic now, isn't it?
