I'm not trying to cause any trouble or anything, but I've noticed BWW ain't what it used to be. I used to post on here all the time with a different screen name back in early 2006 - late 07. I haven't had internet access since, so I stopped posting but I've had it back now for about a month.
I started posting again, because I missed it, but I've noticed not only is the reporting on here a bit shody, but the layout is very clutered now and it should be updated a bit. Also, it seems like a good 70% of the users have vanished. There used to be a new reply or post ever minute, now it's every other hour. It just dissapoints me a bit. Now, I'm not bashing BWW or anything, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it's just me?
Facebook stole a lot of the OT Board's thunder.

Does anyone else's mind drift to 'Class' from Chicago every time you see a thread title that starts with 'What(ever) happened to _____'?
Every damn time.

For me it's "Whatever Happened To?" by The Buzzcocks, because the __________ is filled in with so many different things.

Face it, Corine, your "Corner" is BWW's only real competition in the area of anything that's cultural in NYC--or the world, for that matter.
It used to be that when anyone wanted to know about anything culture-wise they'd come to BWW. Now it's different.
If they want to know about sushi, the got to Corine's Corner.
If they want to know about opera, the got to Corine's Corner.
If they want to know about tap dancing, they go to Corine's Corner.
If they want to know about Musto, they go to Corine's Corner.
If they want to know about life, they got to Corine's Corner.
Do you see what's happening? All that BWW is good for nowadays is Broadway.
Sad. Terribly sad.
BWW has gone down because they now allow trolls to come to the board and disrupt honest discussions and start trouble. BWW Never use to tolerate this before.I actually got a Pm from someone who goes to another Broadway forum where they actually moderate the board and do not allow such misconduct.Very disappointed with the moderators who use to actually care about this website and it's posters.
All of this from the greatest defenders of "free speech!" LOL
I was going to state that like Obama, ratings are sinking. Socialists, radicals, leftists, and extreme liberals drive away common sense Americans from this Board.

What others have said. The board is no longer shiny-new, and the novelty has worn off. There's many more online venues now.

Besides,
When most of the posts are from a one track, broken record, it ceases to be fun any more.

Oh, those posts? They're still around? I don't even notice them anymore. It's my own personal block feature. You should try it - it works!

So many of the best and brightest don't post here anymore or their posts have become few and far between. They're sick of the bullying and bitching. Such wasted energy! That's not speculation on my part, either. I've asked many of them who drop off the radar, at least the ones I like, and this is their answer, almost unanimously.
Social networks such as Facebook are for "friends" to engage in the sharing of info or photos or topics of interest, by invitation only. You're free to block, "un-friend" or ignore anybody you don't want to deal with.
I find myself posting here less and less now. There are fewer topics of interest to me. On the Main Board, 90 percent of the discussions are about "who signs?" or "what stuff can I get?" or the Nazi-patroled threads, where certain "power posters" turn into total freaks whenever a discouraging word is heard about their favorite show.
The OT Board is riddled with endless sock-puppet political battles, bullying matches, or pop-culture topics that I don't care about.
There are still some cool people here. I've made some "real" friendships from the "virtual" ones that started on this site. For that, I am truly grateful. And I still enjoy some of the thread discussions here. But it's becoming a rare occurrence.
I find myself gravitating toward sites and places where I can rid myself of the daily crap and the effort it takes to navigate through it. It's not hard at all to find healthier forums these days.
So why put up with the b.s.? Simple as that.
A Board that is known to be a safe harbor for protected leftists and liberals of all stripes is full of bullying and hate.
Now, there's a thought...
It might be the lack of diversity on the Board. Anyone's group of friends is more diverse and interesting.

And who lie lie lie lie but expect to be taken seriously.
Lies are the specialty of the liberal party.
A Board that is known to be a safe harbor for protected leftists and liberals of all stripes is full of bullying and hate. There is no stronger indictment of modern liberalism.
(well, maybe the failed Obama presidency, but who wants to bring that up?)

I have to agree, best12bars. It's becoming less and less worth it to be here. Lots of chaff, not so much wheat.
What Besty said.
Plus there are far too many folks on this board who should know better who bait and feed the mentally ill.
See, and what I want to know is who you were before.
And I agree with b12b, completely. I find myself feeling less and less relevant here. I have nothing to say to the community as it is now, for the most part. I don't find the intelligent discourse I used to come here for much anymore. And I find that when I DO dive in to engage, it often ends up in an argument and I regret saying anything at all.
I feel exactly the same.
That's the reason why I stay away from the OT board is because I don't want to get wrapped up in arguments and petty b.s. That's not why I love theatre or love being around people who love theatre. I enjoy it because I enjoy being around like minded people who can share their thoughts in a smart, fun manner. (And yes, sometimes a little sarcasm is fine too). But I've noticed a change here. Same with the broadway board, I feel like I have nothing to contribute and if I do it's only for the Amanda Palmer thread.

For a while I had completely stopped coming here- I just kind of outgrew it. But when I do occasionally look at the boards, I'm just disappointed. Mainly for the reasons already listed in this thread, but there are a few other things that have caused me to miss the BWW days of yore. Ripley-Gate was just disgusting. I don't understand why things that seem to have very little to do with any kind of theater- like Glee, for example- get SO much talk and promotion on here. Petty arguments and fights seem to be at their height. And there have always been sock puppets, but I don't really remember a time when those mindless trolls would get the supreme treat of being engaged in an debate (with real, somewhat respected posters) about their ridiculous views. We ignored them, and they went away.
I'm sure I'm over-romanticizing the board that I posted on, but I'm also sure that the state of BWW now is just sad.
