Posted: 5/18/08 at 10:37pmDepends. Are you religious or Atheist? If you are religious, then you could believe in a religious afterlife. If you are Atheist, (I am not), but I think that the general atheist belief is that you just are dead, and nothing happens to you. Kind of scary, IMO.

I'm Jewish too, and there is DEFINITELY a Jewish afterlife. I know many Jews who were not religious, and did not believe in heaven, they did not observe Shabbat, they had a life-threatening illness, were in the hospital, and were really dead for about 5 minutes. The doctors get them back to life and they said that they told HaShem that this was not their time and that they will observe Shabbat and be more religious from now on, and some are still alive today, and one died 7 years after that incident. I know that there is an afterlife. It's not "when you die, you die".

OK, well, I believe personally that when you're dead you're dead. I'll believe that until someone who died comes back to report what happened.

My friend's father lived 7 YEARS after that incident and he kept Shabbat every week from that day on 'til he died. If you don't believe me, ask your rabbi, I'm sure s/he knows people with these experiences, too.

They prove EVERYTHING! What would be a 71 year-old's motive to lie? You not being religious is the region that our culture and religion is dying. Even if I didn't believe in anything in Judaism (I do believe it, though), I would still practice it for the 6,000,000 of us that died in the Shoah.
