I tell people it's a tie between "Sound of Music" and "The Exorcist".

It's really a tie between "Sound of Music" and "The Exorcist".

That's my absolute favorite episode of Friends. "What phenomenom scares the bejesus out of Chandler Bing?" "Michael Flatley Lord of the Dance!"

I tell people my favorite is Mary Poppins but it's really The Little Mermaid.

"Oh, Liesel. Don't spin your head so much, dear. You'll frighten the Nazi's."

I actually laughed out loud at that for some reason..

I don't usually tell people that the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are up there with my favorites... and I used to hide my obsessive love for all things Harry Potter, but I've come clean.

re: What is Your Favorite Movie? And Then...What is Your REAL Favorite Mov

I figure anyone who is insistent that you have to have one single favourite is someone who's making some kind of (usually dumb re: What is Your Favorite Movie? And Then...What is Your REAL Favorite Mov) judgement. So while I have a whole mess of favourite movies (and books and colours and animals and all sorts of things), if they want just one, then I give them the answer that is not only accurate but also tells them a little about myself.

So my favourite movie should anyone ask is The Adventures of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. My favourite movie in actuality veers between The Adventures of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and Evil Dead 2. That's my triumvirate. :3

Since the point of this thread was to (I assume) mention movies that we love but are embarrassed to admit, I will toss in Hairspray (the movie of the musical of the movie).

I'm scared of the forthcoming sequel, but I can't enough of Johnny T in drag dancing with Christopher Walken (who looks like he has no idea what moive he's even in).

I know this is answering only half of the quiz (and I wouldn't say it's my "real" favorite movie), but I'm surprisingly fond of "The Fog."

I love everything about it, and if Adrienne Barbeau actually had that late-night radio show, I'd fall asleep to it nightly.

Tazber, I absolutely agree. The opening shot of Touch of Evil is magnificent, and you're right Welles was never better.
I first discovered the movie on the late show (remember those?) back in the 70s. I was so thrilled when it was restored and played theatres.

re: What is Your Favorite Movie? And Then...What is Your REAL Favorite Mov

The Sound of Music is my favorite movie ever. I've seen it more times than I can count, and I never get tired of it. You know something is wrong when it is shown on ABC Family for three days straight with a four hour time slot, and I still watch all three showings. Actually, my parents say it's the first movie I ever watched as a baby. Why they skipped Disney videos and went straight for a three hour musical, I'll never know. But, I'm glad they did. re: What is Your Favorite Movie? And Then...What is Your REAL Favorite Mov

Ever After is second on my list.
