Popculture, I just can't cry silently... if I try to hold back it just gets worse.

AH, sometimes movies trigger emotional responses that aren't directly related, but that are looking for a release.

A good sob is therapeutic!

"I was a young closeted teen sitting in the theater with my grandmother and I was crying uncontrollably. I don't even think I new why."

Andy - I had a similar moment to this, but it was watching Born Free - maybe it was just the title re: What movies have rendered you speechless?

Schindler's List - for reasons already been elaborated on
First scene of Saving Private Ryan (ugh...can't stand violent movies)
The Best Years of Our Lives - for some reason, this movie always just hits me in the heart...a personal aftermath of war, of lives forever changed...
Some Like It Hot - HUGE Marilyn Monroe fan...and if she doesn't leave you speechless in this film, I don't know what will
And much, much more...although nowadays, I find myself speechless with any modern movie that manages to maintain some semblence of an emotional thread throughout a majority of the film.

no film has ever left me speechless. I was thrilled and in a delighted trancelike state from the spectacular film version of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

I agree that the "Phantom" movie was underrated.

I also forgot "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "The Sixth Sense". Both have truly disturbing and heartbreaking finales.

"but I just remembered Secrets and Lies. Brenda Blethyn...speechless!"

I couldn't agree more. I love that film. Equally amazing was the girl who played Brenda's daughter, Claire Rushbrook. She recently starred in the hilarious BBC comedy series Carrie and Barry. Brilliant actress.
