Empire of the Sun - When his parents don't even recognize him in the orphange at first and pass him by, but then come back and the look of skepticism fading to realization and they reunite is probably the most emotional scene I have ever witnessed on film.

Hey Beaverhausen,

When I saw CARRIE in the theater, somebody in the audience actually FAINTED when he saw the ending!

Believe it or not, there's a musical version of CLUE that was presented Off-Broadway.

It has TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN possible endings:

Schindler's List.

When the actors escort the 'real' people past the grave of Oskar Schindler.

My favorite movie ending would definitely have to be the ending of Clue also. I love the entire movie!

My favorite/most loathed movie ending would be Little Women! I just remember crying for about an hour saying "AMY!?? BUT SHE MAKES UP WORDS!" I felt so betrayed by Laurie! And I think Jo should have beat her up or something. She was just like "well alright..." GRRR! I'm still mad about

Lubitsch's "Trouble in Paradise."

I can't think of the line off-hand, but every moment is perfection, especially wehen Herbert Marshall, the dashing jewel thief, tells Kay Francis, the beuatiful wealthy widow, "I came here to rob you, but unfortunately I fell in love with you."

That movie, Sondheim's "Company" and watching Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney in "Two for the Road" made me sophisticated at a tender age.

Miriam Hopkins to Herbert Marhsall: "Darling, remember, you are Gaston Monescu. You are a crook. I want you as a crook. I love you as a crook. I WORSHIP you as a crook. Steal, swindle, rob--oh, but DON'T become one of those useless, good-for-nothing gigolos."

Well, certainly not the Best, but these two deserve Honourable Mentions:

AMADEUS-Salieri's "mediocrity" speech as he is wheeled down the halls of the mental institution, only to be interupted by Mozart's 'laugh'

ELECTION-Matthew Broderick's character is giving a tour in a museum, he asks a question, and there is one girl raising her hand with too much enthusiasm (paralleling Witherspoon's overachoever character, who started his downfall), and she is the only raising her hand. Then it cuts to his expression. Priceless.

Some of these you guys mentioned always make me cry, like SCHINDLER and FIELD OF DREAMS. The last scene of THE JOY LUCK CLUB is also one that gets to me each and every time. That gorgeous score doesn't hurt it, either.

But yes, "Do you remember where you parked the car?" is one of the greatest last lines in cinema history.

"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

The end of the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is pretty effective.

Schindler's List has made me cry each and every time I have seen it.
Salieri's mediocrity speech is one of my favourites.
Victor/Victoria!!! Robert Preston in one of the funniest endings I have ever seen...that made me laugh so much!

My favorite is "The Oscar"

The Stephen Boyd character thinks he is going to get the oscar. You do not hear the winners name mentioned as a nominee so you do not expect it. Boyd is Frank Fane . The winner is read Frank. He stands up only to hear Sinatra instead of Fane. He than crumples up into a fetal position in his seat.

The whole movie is a hoot with dialog that is priceless. When you have Tony Bennett playing Hymie Kelly, what more could you ask for ? Not to mention the parade of has been Hollywood stars than populate the movie

Mr Roxy,

I think THE OSCAR is a real hoot, too.

My favorite character is Milton Berle as 'Kappy Kapstetter'.
