Something that I don't have to constantly put on and that's not shiny.

Avon's Moisture Therapy is great.

Another vote for Burt's Bees. It works well and it lasts.

I live in Denver so it is dry here. Tried Burts Bee's and it was ok. I like Carmex.

And Burts Bees Blemish Stick works wonders on bug bites!

Oh my God- this stuff is so much better than anything else it's pretty much a wonder drug. I used to have to ship cases of it to a friend who moved to Canada. She'd trade me Carmex for that Canadian over-the-counter flu remedy that tastes like hot lemonade.

Joe, when I moved to Colorado I was given Carmex and told that I would need it. It's the best. And Burts Bees is a bit overpriced.

Burt's Bees is great, and also anything from Bath & Bodyworks. They have a pretty nice selection of non-shiny lip balm and it keeps your lips moisturized all day.

I'm very picky about my lip balm and these are my top 3 picks

Flavored Carmex - It's cheap, works very well, SPF protection, and doesn't have the harsh smell of the original carmex. The bad: It can sometimes feel sticky.

Chapstick Moisturizer - Costs a little more than Carmex and always goes on smoothly. The vanilla mint one seems to keep your lips feeling moisturized longer than the regular one in my opinion.

EOS Smooth Sphere: My current favorite! It's organic and leaves your lips feeling very smooth. Lasts awhile too. Only downside is that it's a little pricy ($3 to $4 in Seattle anyway)

Also you should try to pick a white or clear lip balm. Anything with color can start to leave a colored outline around your mouth if you use it often.

No Chapstick...

Ever.

It's like the Visine is to eye drops.

While we are on the subject of lips...

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in January. All the other bridesmaids are getting their makeup professionally done but I'm not. First of all, it's very expensive, plus, I'm allergic to a lot of makeup products.

I have everything except lip gloss. I can't wear lipstick for some reason; my throat gets really sore. I can wear lip gloss. I've tried many lip glosses- from very expensive to very cheap but they all seem to be very sticky. I've tried putting lip balm underneath and on top but it doesn't take away the stickiness.

Does anyone recommend any lip gloss products that aren't sticky?

I'm a lipbalm addict. I buy them in multipacks and keep one everywhere (computer desk, bedside table, coffee table in the living room, purse) and apply at least once every two hours. It's a sickness.

I get the Carmex, but I use the tube stuff and it's actually pretty shiny, like clear lipgloss. The tub stuff isn't shiny like that, if you don't mind applying with your finger.

I would recommend Burt's Bees for those who definitely want to go the shineless route. I also liked Blistex.

SweetQ, I just bought a lipgloss at MAC that's not sticky. Their standard lipgloss (Lipglass, they call it) is very sticky, but their Cremesheen Glass is soft and non-sticky. If 18.00 a tube is too expensive for you there's always Covergirl Wetslicks.

Thanks Craww-

I usually don't spend that much but for this type of occasion, I'm willing to pay that price. After all, the other girls are paying 75$ for a makeup artist to do theirs.
I have never been to MAC, do they let you try it?

Craww, I'm completely with you! I'd call myself an addict. I can't leave my house without lip balm. If I realize I don't have any on me, I cut my trip short or buy a new tube. It's terrible.

MAC will let you try anything. And they do make a pretty good lip gloss that dries quickly and stays on.

I don't usually get a chance to buy a new one if I'm stuck without some. I usually just end up using whatever my most moisturizing lipgloss is. If I'm without either, then I really suffer.

I have never been to MAC, do they let you try it?

Yeah. They have disposable applicators and wipes so you can try as many as you'd like. I've always found the MAC people especially helpful and friendly.

My sister, who hates sticky lipgloss, swears by Benefit. She bought my some and, while it wasn't sticky, the kind she got me had glittery things. That's my one thing. I don't mind somewhat sticky, but glittery things drive me nuts. Can't stand the gritty texture. But I bet Benefit has non-glittery glosses, too.

I mostly said MAC because it's what I gravitate towards, but any of the higher end cosmetic companies will probably have something that suits your need. I have a Clinique I really like, and a Smashbox I really like. A lot of people swear by Stila.

My favorite is Mentha Lip Balm. It's available at Bath & Body Works and is just fantastic. I fell in love with it when I was working there right out of high school. Since it's so rarely in, I stock up on them and usually will keep some in the freezer (I live in a desert - it will melt otherwise). This lip stuff is good because it both heals your lips and tastes/smells pretty darn good. All in all, I'm in favor of it.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Lip Moisturizer is quite good and not too sticky, oily, shiny, smelly (or too anything else). It also has an SPF-15.

probably the best lip balm would be the one that Paris Hilton wanted from her purse
(that wasn't her purse she said) to use while going to the bathroom in Vegas... after she was pulled over by the cops for pot ..... that must be SOME LIP BALM ! We should find out what brand that was ..... she must use the best !
