Mine is because my parents could never remember my full name so they said "MATT G! GET ME SOME SMOKES!" or "MATT G, GET ME A FRESH NEEDLE!" and it's funny because my real name is Harmony.

Is your surname Korine?
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I've always been a crazily obsessed Madonna fan and since the age of 10 I've always watched the movie Desperately Seeking Susan once a week. Nuts, I know. I can't get enough of it. Desperately Seeking Stranger is the header than Rosanna Arquette uses in her personal ad to meet Madonna in the film...

re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

I joined BWW a few months after I saw Cabaret for the first time, and at the time it was really the only show I could think about; it had a really strong impact on me. I thought (well, I still do think) that the Emcee is one of the most powerful, fascinating roles in musical theatre. The versatility and multiple meanings of the character were my favorite part about the show, hence my BWW username. re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

OK, here goes (the abridged version):

When I lived in NYC, I worked with a woman named Dottie. Unbeknownst to her I created this whole background story about her (i.e., she was a former showgirl in Las Vegas, etc.). My co-workers were quite amused with my stories about her.

One day at work we were all talking and I said, "Dottie you're so delusional." Hence, Dottie D'Luscia!!!

Glad you liked it. It made me laugh just thinking about it.

Well, since I just registered about 10 min. ago, I thought I would answer this one.

My username was the song playing on my itunes when I regestered.

I think I originally joined because I had a broadway question I needed answered quickly... assuming it was just like AOL/AIM, I was like, oh better slap a number on the end of my favorite musical. Hence, Millie42. My creative side has been slapping me in the face ever since.

And as for 42, its been one of my lucky numbers for a while. I only like even numbers and I think I originally picked it as a favorite in 8th grade or so, as it was Mulder's apt number (Yes, XF)

re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

My name was given to me in 1974 in a high school production of Our Town. I played Mrs. Soames who was the town busybody. Needless to say, I was mad because I didn't get a lead. Hey, it was my senior year and I wanted to leave with a bang! Took this part and really turned her into a Yenta and milked it for all it was worth. The other students called me the Yenta of Grover's Corner. The last scene involves ustalking from our graves. At the dress rehearsal I looked down at my freshly painted { card board} grave stone aand saw that it said" HERE LIES LOUELLA SOAMES.........THE YENTA OF GROVERS" CORNER. The name stuck and everyone called me Yenta until my graduation that June.

re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

Um, I had just gotten the recording of The Civil War and was listening to By the Sword/Sons of Dixie, and seeing as I'm from the north I used the By the Sword part and tacked on my birth year 84 to the end of it. I only signed up to read with no intentions of posting. I'm not a big fan of it but by now there's not point in changing it.

Although I've also been told people read it as
By the S-Word 84
So, I say that's fine but the S-Word has yet to be determined.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Thanks, Mary_Ethel!

I had no idea that there was a musical version of "The World of Henry Orient"! Thanks for telling me, I must research this!

I loved the movie so much growing up. Apparently it was written with Hayley Mills in mind. It's too bad she didn't do the role, but the film is just wonderful nonetheless! "Tell me, madam, does your daughter dress like a chinaman?" LOL!

Junglered,

I love THE WOMEN!

Do you know it was remade as a musical with MALE roles--THE OPPOSITE SEX (1956)?

Joan Collins(!) had Joan Crawford's old part as Crystal.

CJR is a nickname a very good friend of mine gave me a few years ago... To this day, she still calls me CJR on occasion.

As for what it means, some of you know and some of you don't.... but I told the ones who don't know, I'd have to kill them re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

Well the Thoroughly Modern part is pretty obvious...Millie is my fave show. Cara is a character in a novel a friend and I wrote. The character is loosely based on me and the aspirations and interests I had for my own life at that time.

re: What's the Story Behind Your BWW Username?

I'm feeling so boring... I picked this name without giving it much thought. I never intended to stick around and post. BME= Biomedical Engineer (which I am), bway= b/c I enjoy broadway and the 2... well that's b/c I registered as bmeonbway but for some reason, that account wouldn't let me sign in when I first joined, so I created bmeonbway2.
