i just got my grades. I got at 3.82 for the semester which raises my GPA to a 3.62. I'm happy!

BlueWizard, I feel forgetting you're at UT! I keep thinking you're at York or Queen's w/ Judy. Yeah, folks, BlueWiz ain't kidding. UT is notoriously tough (and expensive!). I was accepted there for my undergrad (is that what you're in now?) but I was like, man for the cost of tuition and expenses, it's not worth it. If I could afford it (hah!) I'd go to the law school there - it's the most expensive in Canada, but it's because its rep and the profs/courses are meant to rival the Ivy Leaguers. But if I do end up going into law school, I'll prob wind up at UBC. But I'd still like to apply to UT just to frame my acceptance letter! (If those goddamn logic games get any better on my LSAT!)

Oh yeah, topic - umm...college GPA not bad. Simon Fraser U has a wonky system out of 4.33, whereas UBC is out of 4, and I think a few Canadian universities are out of 9. What gives??

Yeah, specify high school or college. It does make a big diff. (And specify what the GPA is out of because I think it differs everywhere, doesnt it? Or is that just a wonky Canadian quirk?)

What is the percentage to letter grade to GPA ratio? Like at SFU (my college), an A+ is 95-100%= 4.33, A is 90-94% = 4, A- is 85-89% =3.67, B+ is 80-84% =3.33, B is 75-79%=3.0, B- is 70-74% =2.67, and so on, but it's not consistent across the country so there's always some problems about not being assessed properly for grad school. (How are your grad school apps coming along? I need to start mine today!)

Oh my god! Is that the norm? Jesus, and my college is supposed to have one of the harder %-to-letter grade equivalents, but it's nothing like that!

Same here. Criminology (my dept) is higher than Psyc, where an A+ = 90%+, A is 85-89%, etc. Sucks, doesn't it? I mean, what do you say on your grad app? "My school is stupid and it's Criminology's haaard." It's aggravating. I've gotta start with those personal statements and I don't know what to say. It just seems so unnatural to write about all your achievements and obstacles you've overcome over the past 3-4 years (3 yrs for you too, right?) without sounding like a pretentious ass.

True, but think of how much glee you'll get from telling your graduation class that you can't join because you're TOO YOUNG! Same with your first year grad class! (What are you planning on doing for your masters? Working for Kaplan must help eh?)

Are you enjoying Communications? If I weren't doing Crim/Sociology, I likely would have done Communications. Well, that or Poli Sci, Economics or Commerce. Or Archaeology. But there are a lot of aspects of Communications that I find really interesting (esp. media).

So what is nonverbal communication? Like body language?

Do you know what your thesis is going to be on yet? I'm thinking of doing my thesis and dissertation for an honors in Criminology but I don't want to wait an extra year to graduate. (It's honestly an ego thing in part - I really want to graduate early. It doesn't have the same ring to it if I say I finished a 5 year degree in 4.)
