Hi, guys...about to run out to rehearsal, but wanted to check in. I'm recuperating nicely (albeit slowly) from my disaster at the dentist (I'll go into details later on, if you want), and previews are going well. We have two more (tonight and tomorrow) before opening. And we rehearse every day until we open. Including on the day of opening. Ack. I'm tired. :-P
DD: It was way worse than "dentist drama." On Monday, I had a 1-in-100,000 chance thing happen to me, where I got air forcefully blown into the soft tissues of my face, inflating it like a balloon. It's called subcutaneous emphysema, if you want to google it. It was very painful (the pain has subsided to a large degree), and it affected my hearing (that aspect, unfortunately has not yet improved), and my face looked like I'd lost a fight. They put me on antibiotics and pain medication for the condition, and the combination made me violently ill all Tuesday morning (from about 6am til noon). And I had to rehearse that day and perform that night. Needless to say, I skipped most of rehearsal, as I was lying on the bathroom floor when it began, but I did get there for the last 2 hours and did the show Tuesday night.
The swelling in my face has almost completely gone away now, but my hearing is still all wonky, and now I have pain in my soft palate/back of my throat and swollen glands because I had to stop taking the atnibiotics when I got sick, and I guess the infection they were worried about did indeed set in.
So, I started the anitbiotics again today, but without the pain meds this time. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Oh dear! That sounds so painful! I'm so sorry, especially that it's happening during hell week. My fingers are crossed, and all the positive vibes from the NW are headed your way!

Most of the conditions associated with subcutaneous emphysema are very severe and require hospitalization. Medical staff would already be involved in most cases.
And you went to rehearsal and preview that evening? You are my new hero, Erika.
