There are about 62 towns in Bergen County that can be described as "2 square miles, main attraction is a superstore." It's cute.

I was born in the suburbs of Tel Aviv and have lived in the suburbs of NYC. Right now I go to school in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Of the 3, I like NJ the best. Why? Well, not having much terrorism is a good start, and the fact that NYC is cooler than Philly seals the deal. :)

I'm always in and out of NJ, but I did live there for 2 years, and we still rent our old house out. I visited a friend who lives in Hoboken and almost wept. The most perfect living arrangement ever!!

Your town is two miles square? Mine is one mile square. Yes, I am in Bergen County also. I live very close to NY, an hour's ride from Pa. where I go to Peddler's Village which is beautiful with quaint shops, one hour from the Jersey shore and two hours from Atlantic City. There is a lot to do if you look. Yes, and it is life like the Sopranos........

those "you know you live in jersey when.."are funny. i've never seen that before. but today i was in a store and saw a shirt that said "jersey girls have more fun" i'm not sure if it's true but it reminded me of this thread

Sayreville girl here most of my life, with a 9 year lapse spent in the Fords section of Woodbridge, then back to Sayreville.

There's a little hole in the wall store in Spring Lake that sells some great stuff. Saw an article in the paper back in March and had to rush right down there.

That really depends on where you live in Jersey. I have cousins who live in Belmar and Neptune and they say they're going to the beach. I'm 30 minutes north of there and we say we're going down the shore. The cut-off is maybe the Matawan/Aberdeen line? Not sure.

Drives my friend from California, who used to live here, crazy also. Every summer when she comes back, she just doesn't understand why she just can't turn around if she's going the wrong way. When I was out there, she nearly gave me heart failure when she just pulled a U-turn in the middle of the street. Of course the truck that she pulled in front of, could have had something to do with it, also!

It's amazing that you can't make lefts in NJ...I just keep go round and round and can never make it home because I need to make a left to get into my driveway, but I can't make a left...what do I do when I run out of gas??? See I would have to make a left to get into the gas station,but being you can't make a left in NJ I have to keep passing it. There are no gas stations in NJ to make a right into. You know what, why bother even driving in NJ, I'm just gonna take mass transportation from now on...I'll save on gas and a car payment that way too. Can buses make lefts in NJ??? Hmmmmm

Yeah I love the shore vs. beach thing. Also the fact that NJ is the only state you can say the second half of the "New ___" .. you never hear Hampshire, or York, or Mexico (well unlesss you are talking about the country). But you always hear "Jersey"

Sorry, just fell into Michelleruth2's phrasing. I'll clarify that with "my friend can't understand why she can't just make a U-turn in the middle of the street instead of having to find a jughandle when she's going the wrong way".

I just don't understand why people have such a difficult time with jughandles, so much safer than trying to make a left on a busy highway. Could you imagine the traffic if people were allowed to make a left on route 3??? UGH !!!!
