Carla got so drunk one night that she slept with Paul (played by Paul Willson). Sam was the only one who knew, and Carla was afraid he would tell the other guys. Sam promised Carla he'd never tell, and to prove it, he let her in on his big secret - he showed her that he wore a toupee.

He revealed his toupee to Carla in the final season - about three episodes before the series finale. It was a small pice that covered the big bald patch on the top of his head. The hair in front was real.
From that point on, Danson never wore the toupee in public, at personal appearances or on talk shows, etc. - only during filming if the role required it. For his next series, "Becker", he wore his hair cut very short, almost a crew cut, with no toupee.
