Why didn't they have Beyonce sing "Listen" at the Oscars?

I am sick of Beyonce as well. But honestly it definitely would have been more appropriate. or why didn't Jennifer do the other original song written for the movie? I love you I do?

I don't get the waffle reference. What am I missing?

Because Jennifer, as well as CZJ, won Oscars for their roles in their respective musicals. Those two songs were their roles' signature songs.

And because God forbid someone get a bad Beyonce picture of her at the Academy Awards as well

Probably just entertainment value and the probability that Hudson had the time in her schedule.

I'm not a big fan of "And I'm Telling You", but facts are facts: Sung well, the damn thing never fails to bring the house down.

The entire segment was meant to be a lead in for Anne Hathaway winning Best Supporting Actress. Catherine Zeta Jones and Jennifer Hudson won the same category for modern movie musicals. That was the point.

They also had so many music performances overall because they were trying to rehab the Music Branch's image after years of screwing around with the Original Song and Score categories and almost getting Song eliminated from the Oscars. "See, we LOVE film music. Just love it. Honestly."

They should have had Mary Poppins fly in on a broom singing "Defying Gravity" while Bert rode his broom around the room singing "And I Am Telling You..."

Did nobody else notice that Jennifer Hudson stuffed up the lyrics of And I'm Telling You...? She replaced the first part of the song with a lot of "man...my man ...mah man.."
Other than that she sang it fine but there was no drama in the performance.

I assume you're talking about the "try it, Mister Man" part? That's part of the song, always has been. Otherwise I'm not sure what you're talking about.
