Why should we download from itunes any more???

Anyone notice that the prices on itunes just went up - songs are now 1.69 each and albums are about 17 a piece??? Why bother downloading from them if the price isn't cheaper than getting the actual CD? Are songs really worth 1.69 a piece? A 70 cent hike is going to lose them a LOT of business - I can't see how that's going to pay for itself...

Today I tried to search two artists on itunes that I've searched before and nothing came up, all the albums that used to be there just dissapeared, I don't really know why that is.

Right now if you have the old verrsion of iTunes it is $.99/song, if you have the new it is $1.69

I am sure they focused on the new one first and that by the end of this week the old will be changed too

They're not going to change one version and not the other...

If you're still on the old version, get prepared - stock up on songs now while you still can apparently....

I'm not sure 99 cents was worth it most of the time - I'll be buying VERY few songs at 1.69 a piece - and even less albums when I can just order from amazon for less.

yeah if that really happens ,that sucks and I will no longer download singles. Just go and buy them at the store, itunes won't be any cheaper. That really blows.

I just checked on iTunes and the songs are still $.99. I just downloaded it to my laptop an hour ago so it is the latest version. Odd...

something wacky is going on with my version or the site - because when I load itunes up, it's giving me all prices in yen, and the catalog is all asian stuff - all searches for stuff I know is on there comes up blank.. weird

WTF? Mine is listed in Kroner!!! (Swedish currency) and listing mostly Swedish artists.

I tried to search for a song and a box popped up that said it wasn't available in the Japanese Store and asked if I wanted to switch stores.

So I did.

And I got to where I was trying to go. And the songs were 99c. So maybe you can find a way to switch back to the US store. I don't know how to though.

I just switched mine back to read 99c as well. On the home page, scroll all the way to the bottom and there should be a drop down menu. Even though mine said United States, I clicked on United States again and it then changed back to American dollars.

I think the $1.69 price is Canadian. My I-tunes is still .99, and I just noticed the new London cast of Evita is finally available there.

Yep...mine was in Japanese too...click around and it will say something's not available in the Japanese store and ask if you want to switch to the US store.

And even if the prices do go up, itunes will live on because it feeds right into our culture's need for immediate gratification. Why drive all the way to the store, or wait for the mail from an online site if you can download a song and have it in under a minute?

I don't get how certain artists dissapeared. Just a month ago I searched a certain artist and got all of their past albums, now I only get one song. I searched another band too that I know is popular and should be on itunes and isn't.

I was JUST saying the same thing...all the artists were weird and it was in Yen...itunes YOU SUCK.
