I agree, when did you have the opportunity to dance with HIM??! *lol
Well, I have "Tango Maureen" in my head, thanks to your avatar!

As much as I didn't get hooked by the stage show, as much I surprisingly liked the movie of "Rent". Strange actually, but on screen it just made more sense...
And Tango Maureen was nice to watch, perhaps because it was the only ensemble dancing number up to then
Tango Maureen was my favourite scene in the movie, I guess.
Rent was just predestined to be turned into a movie...

Well, it appears Adenberg's new translation is no bit better than the original translation, so the stage show probably never will click for me .
Where did you catch the new lyrics?!? o.O

lol, only what I read at this article about it on musicalzentrale.de. And that didn't only sound ugly, but had some biting reader's comments as well which was at least as funny
I read that too...
But really, how can he change "525600 minutes" in something completely different? That's just... not right!

True, all too true. But musicals in Germany never depended on great lyrics *lol*. So what the heck...
That'll change soon, but hasn't yet.

Way behind, but... both songs are good to have stuck in your head! lol. I love the live show much more than the movie.
I would think watching a show in a completely different language, you would lose something in the translation. But I guess if English isn't your native language, you'll still lose something. That's true of the Spanish music I listen to (oh yes, I speak Spanish. lol.) Isn't it pretty impossible to translate a show and maintain the rhythm of songs? Hmmm....

Well you can translate it...it just often ends up sounding ridiculous.
(When did you get the chance to take that picture? At one of the booksignings?)

In a class I took my teachers found out I'm German and asked me to sing Take me or Leave me in German. When I told them that I don't know it in German, they said "But can't you just translate it?", it took me a while to explain to them that the proper translation would never fit the music...

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured.
My avatar was at his first booksigning in February in Chicago. I had met him once before in November at a pre-screening of RENT. THAT was a cool night. Man.

I walked by him in NYC and was just dumbstruck... even my friend (who does not care for theater) regognized him and said that's the guy from the poster (this was last October...so tons of rent posters), I still regret not having said "Hi"...
He's really nice about talking to fans. At the booksigning there wasn't much time because there were so many people, but at the movie screening I saw him beforehand as well as after and got to talk to him for probably close to 20 minutes. He's very down to earth and seems to really like listening to what his fans have to say.

Oh well...maybe I'll get another chance to meet him someday.
Well he's not really the hide-in-seclusion type, so I'm sure you will!

Ah, I'm back, now listening to "Lennon"
It doesn't sound quite as bad as it probably was.

Jessica?
