Posted: 2/7/13 at 12:21pmmy local market is completely out of bread, milk and eggs. Apparently there's going to be some serious french toast making tomorrow.

Posted: 2/7/13 at 12:34pmMy son works at a grocery store in Upstate NY and says they're already getting slammed. Depending on where you read, we're getting anywhere from 6-18 inches in the Capital District.

Posted: 2/7/13 at 12:36pmIt would be nice to get some snow here in NYC but I'm sure we'll just end up with a few flurries.

The timing, intensity and track of this storm could still change, but right now New York City is looking to get 6 to 10 inches of snow...

Posted: 2/7/13 at 12:45pmI needed to get to the store by the weekend, and had planned on going tonight. Then I remembered the forecast and forced myself to stop after work last night. Thank God!

But if Jessica is supposed to fly out Saturday night to make it to the wilds of London, England is there a really good chance they will cancel the rest of the shows so she can fly out now?

"Six to ten inches is perfect!"
Well--perfect is IN there, but that's a bit too much lattitude for me...

Posted: 2/7/13 at 1:32pmWeather.com shows 6-12 inches for my area. I know Shop Rite is probably chaotic. People always think snow is the end of the world out here.

Posted: 2/7/13 at 1:38pmIt was practically in the 60's here yesterday. Sending warm wishes!
#15Winter Storm Nemo
Posted: 2/7/13 at 1:40pmweather.com is showing 2-3 feet in my area. No amount of preparation is going to help.

You're right, Jordan. But I've seen people prepared for 6-8" get totally blindsided by 10-12".
The most important thing is to STAY CALM.

Posted: 2/7/13 at 1:57pmIt takes a lot more than a couple feet of snow to shut us down in Buffalo. You may be stuck in the house for 6 hours or so, but the plows will have you out and about pretty quickly.

My weather report says, ALERT: HISTORIC, CRIPPLING BLIZZARD AHEAD. Granted I am in Upstate NY and these things to happen in February but I am dreading the fatalism and schadenfreude the local weathermen will have with this. 1-2 feet expected.
I really hope work gets cut short tomorrow. Not into driving 20 miles back in those conditions.

Once they commit the funds involved in having the graphics department come up with a name, a font and an image for a storm, the weather stations are in it for the long haul and cannot be stopped.
Unless you actually need constant updates and warnings, the best thing is to turn them off, put on some of your favorite OCR's and relax.

^ Agreed there. Warnings are good, but sometimes too much is not a good thing.
Too bad I'm not in college anymore. The last big snow storm I experienced had me out of class for a week. Okay, it just happened to fall midweek before a long weekend and I had no Friday classes.
