"Showgirls" and "Basic Instinct" both make me want to vomit, but I'm told that they are both regarded in some circles as "lesbian icon movies."

This one's hard for me... because certain movies (like "Showgirls") I went in KNOWING it was going to stink, and I just had fun laughing at how terrible it was.

My friends and I call those kind of films "bad movies we love." But because we LOVE how terrible they are, I'm not sure I can call them the worst films ever made, if there is unintentional "entertainment value" to them.

My two favorite "bad movies I love" are Valley of the Dolls and the musical version of Lost Horizon. I've even thrown parties to watch them both. Nothing brings friends closer together than these two gloriously hideous films... and a tray of fierce cocktails.

But something like Pearl Harbor might make my list as a "bad movie that's just bad."

(Love the Gnome King reference, BTW, "Roquat")

Okay okay, so I actually didn't HATE Crossroads. I knew it was going to be bad going in. I competed in Forensic events with Anson Mount when I was a freshman. I HAD to see him in t...lol.

Sorry, back on topic. Let's not forget "Harry and Max" (okay, let's), a darling film about homosexual incest. No, not good or hot in ANY way. I needed several showers after watching that one (or trying to.)

Thankfully, I've never seen some of these movies you've all mentioned... including that one.

I respect your opinion, and all, but... Are these REALLY the worst movies you've ever seen? I'd consider some of those to be excellent films. Sounds to me like you just don't like the man.

(I was trying to be somewhat of a smartass as someone made a connection of Tom and bad films earlier.) I did think War of the Worlds, Vanilla Sky and Eyes Wide Shut were truly horrid.

Anson was the male lead in Crossroads.

I hate Tom Cruise films, as well. I did like MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, but that had more to do with the fact that it was a Brian De Palma film, than the fact that Tom Cruise was in it. Because I hated M:I 2, but that was just a John Woo film, and had absolutely nothing to do with the spirit of Mission Impossible. I don't understand why Tom Cruise is such a major motion picture star. But there's a lot I don't get!

And I am quite sure that I am the only person on this board that has seen it, but honestly, the worst movie I have EVER seen is Chastity. Sonny wrote it and Cher starred in it. My jesus, it was bad.

I truly loved MINORITY REPORT, but WAR OF THE WORLDS--blech! What an ungodly mess. Spielberg used to be so gifted with child actors, but he made the great Dakota Fanning so screechily unlikable I was praying for the aliens to slurp her up. And the Tim Robbins scene was like every bad student-directed one-act play we've all had to sit through in college.

The third remake of "She", which was NEVER good to begin with, even back in the forties--it's about a warrior queen in a breastplate who swings a sword around (badly)--sort of "Xena-Warrior Princess" stretched out to an unbearable length.

Ever notice how bad movies always have one line in them that sums up the whole experience and gets you laughing hysterically? Like Faye Dunaway's "I'm....not...ACTIIIIING!" in "Mommie Dearest". In this movie, it's--

"Chandra--this has nothing to do with sense."

Titanic... only because my daughter used to watch it every... single... darn... day and would boohoo every time Leo froze to death. :| Everytime I hear "My Heart Will Go On" I get this need to strangle someone...
Sadly, the movie disappeared from our tape/dvd collection... :)
