Oh man...I love Mary's Prayer too. The band was Danny Wilson. How about Todd Rundgren's Can We Still Be Friends?

So, what is the song BAND OF GOLD by Freda Payne about? Did she marry a gay guy who can't perform on their honeymoon? I really like the song, though.

"So, what is the song BAND OF GOLD by Freda Payne about?"
Interestingly enough, the writer of the song was a very prophetic person. The song described the future events of the marriages of Michael Jackson. If Lisa Marie Presley wanted to make millions, she should re-record it.
Toy Soldiers by Mattika
"Now that you're gone, all that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dreams I hold is a band of gold
And the memories of what love could be
If you were still here with me
You took me from the shelter of a mother
I had never known to love any other
We kissed after taking vows
But that night on our honeymoon
We stayed in separate rooms
I wait in the darkness of my lonely room
Filled with sadness, filled with gloom
Hoping, soon, that you'll walk back through that door
And love me like you tried before"
Man, that's a good question. I honestly don't know what it's about. I have always assumed that it was a woman who married a man who was not ready for marriage.
"Band of Gold" - simply one of the best songs ever. And pretty obvious its about a woman who found that her groom was a big ole Mary.
Really dating myself here:
"Heartbeat, It's a Lovebeat" - the DeFranco Family
"When Will I See You Again" - the Three Degrees
"More More More" - Andrea True Connection
"Clean-Up Woman" - Betty Wright
"Hot Shot" - Sharon Redd
"When Boys Talk" - In Deep
Borderline:
"Lovin' Is Really My Game" - Brainstorm
The follow up, "Hot For You", did not get QUITE the same airplay but it BURNED the dance floor like few songs ever had.
