Any one else trying to do the whole travel thing right now? Not too bad, though our Amtrak train is delayed. Headed to a cousin's home in Boston. 18 members of the family all together under one roof for three days. Yikes!

I'm only 43 but feel too old for this kind of madness. Oh, well. Who else will be stuck in a massive family gathering this Thanksgiving?

Family gatherings are my favorite ways to spend Thanksgiving, so I don't consider it being "stuck." This year it's going to be a small gathering. Over the years, families get smaller. They move away, split their Thanksgivings up between other family, etc. I still would rather be with family instead of friends on this holiday. Other holidays, I don't care much!

Don't get me wrong, Jane. Love being with family as it's usually just me and the hubby, so I appreciate any opportunity. But it can be overwhelming with that many people staying over in one house for three days. Hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving. Your Turkey Day Menu 2013?

I'm the exact opposite. Thanksgiving has always been the friends holiday for me. I spend pretty much every other holiday with my parents and siblings, but my husband and I always do Thanksgiving at our apartment. We like to reach out to our friends who would be alone otherwise.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I get what you are saying, Liza's Headband. I get anxiety attacks sometimes, so large gatherings can trigger that up a little for me. And my grandfather actually hates entertaining people so he didn't even want people coming over to his house to visit or help with dinner. He'll have 2 of my uncles with him though, so he's not alone. One lives with him and the other is really close by. But, he didn't want anyone else over. So, it's just going to be me, my parents, 2 of my sisters, and my brother-in-law. No traveling for me. I'm not even heading to the parade in NYC because it's going to be too cold. Plus, if the balloons don't end up flying, it seems pointless.
