Wish me luck in my new apt's teensy kitchen. However, I DO highly recommend the ORIGAMI brand rolling kitchen cart!!! I love it - so useful!! And folds to nothing! Easy pay on HSNcom. The best 99.00 you'll ever spend if you have a teensy kitchen.

We're going to do things a bit differently this year and make a few of those Hanukkah/Thanksgiving mashup recipes that are going around. Since it'll be something like 800 years until it happens again, it might be fun!
Goose.
I don't want to, but I have no choice. First time ever no turkey.

I KNOW!!! I had made reservations for Kutsher's but then had second thoughts. Kinda pricey, but sounds delish, even though the regular menu is not all that great.

Never had goose! Cool! Are you cooking it. Where do you buy it from?
No, for the first time ever we've accepted an invitation from a relative (who asks every year) due to work being done on the house. God knows where she gets her goose from. I usually make the cranberry sauce every year too...does that even go with goose? Screw it, I'm bringing it.

I'm the cook in the family. So we usually do holidays here. But we're in the middle of prepping our house to put on the market. So, for the first time ever, we're eating at a restaurant. I'm a little worried that I'll have no control over things being the way we like them and are used to. --What do you mean all you have is this mushy excuse for dressing??!-- But I'm really looking forward to a break from ALL the work it takes to do these holidays, especially all the hours of cleanup after.

I cooked a goose a few years ago - bought it fresh at the local grocer - very fatty so you have to monitor the drippings - served it with currant jam. I loved it.
I am looking for a stuffing - high on veggies and low in fat!
Stuffing recommendation - prepare on stovetop as usual, but before putting stuffing in oven, crumble a couple of pumpkin muffins and add (preferably, muffins should be at least a couple of days old).
This is the best stuffing I've had in my life!
Emeri's Savory Spinach and Artichoke Stuffing
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Cranberry Sauce
Vegetable Lasagna
Green Bean Casserole
Stuffing
Dessert:
Apple Pie-I'm making this.
Something else my sister is making.
My family is very basic. I like cooking and baking, but we're all making something, so I can't get too fancy and picky about everything.
No idea. I've been invited to a gathering by some wonderful friends. Whatever the menu, I'm already guaranteed a very special day.

You will love goose. It very fatty (that what gives it the flavor) but cooked correctly most of the fat will melt into the pan. It is also all dark meat but again cooked correctly the meat will melt in your mouth.

Clyde - that stuffing looks awesome! I am avoiding animal fat this year. I am going to look through some vegetarian or vegan books that Mrs. Brd has purchased over the years on her various diets. She is now on a low carb and looks fabulous!
For the last few years, my culinary friend has been hosting Thanksgiving. He and his partner wed a few months ago, so this will be their first married Thanksgiving and its sure to be amazing!
Usually Michael cooks everything, but this year he said that he's only doing the bird and the stuffing. Maybe one more side. I volunteered to do my (amazing) garlic mashed potatoes.
Not a clue what anyone else is making (yet) but I will be making white chocolate bread pudding w/ a butter rum sauce, and mashed potatoes w/ marscapone cheese, roasted garlic, and sautéed shallots.
"white chocolate bread pudding"
Where do you live again? 'Cause I may have to stop by.
Entirely vegetarian Thanksgiving this year. Everything homemade from scratch.
Cream of mushroom soup (five different kinds of mushroom)
Pumpkin risotto
Grilled asparagus with lemon-hollandaise
Roasted rutabaga
Cranberry & almond levain
Stracciatella gelato
Pecan pie
You know what I'm making?
Reservations.
And only because I just found out my step-mother said she doesn't want any guests, so I can't visit my father.
Dad says 'she's in a mood', but she's been this way for so long now, it's not a mood, it's her personality.

Wow, AC126, that sounds beautiful and very challenging...you must be SOME chef. I have never seen nor eaten a rutabaga. Can you post pics after this weekend..would love to see your veggie feast.
I brought home my first FRESH turkey from the fabulous Hell's Kitchen institution, ESPOSITO's PORK STORE!! I must say it looks absolutely beautiful, natural color, almost white, non steroid looking. They butterflied it (free), I love Espositos, (They have a FB pg. Check it out. They mail order all over. The absolute best sausages in the universe). I am cooking it in the fashion below. Did it last year for the first time, and it came out fantastic, and in 1/2 the time. Yeah, it may not look as beautiful on the platter, but I always tie it up with a bit of twine, bring it to the table, and then carve it up in the kitchen.

AC, I've been trying to decide om something to bring to Thanksgiving dinner (I'm not much of a cook) and had been spinning my wheels, but thanks to you, I'm doing the roasted rutabaga. Thank you!
Sure, I'll post some pictures! It will be a full day of cooking and eating for sure!
Growly--glad I could help! Enjoy!
