It wasn't a recurring set of characters, but one of my favorite performances is of Will Farrell and Horatio Sanz as the wedding band - and the only song they know is "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" by the Cutting Crew (it must have been something you sehhhhhhhd...). Absolute riot.

Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn as the Sweeney sisters.
They also did a brilliant commercial parody of Calvin Klein's Obsession called Compulsion. It was a cleaning product.
Red wine is spilled,
Nora Dunn: A little club soda will get that out.
Jan Hooks (on her knees, scrubbing, whips her head around):
LIAR!!!
Hilarious.
I killed the boss, you don't think they're gonna fire me over a thing like that!!!!

Cheri Oteri - Spartans!
Gilda Radner - Anything.
Molly Shannon - EVERYTHING. God, I love this woman.

SNL women = Awesome. All of them.

Did anyone see the TV movie about Gilda Radner with Jami Gertz? I saw it when I was pretty young, and liked it.
One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

Weekend Update with Dan Aykroyd saying "Jane, you ignorant slut."

Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake on the Barry Gibb Talk Show.

Krisin Wiig as Nancy Pelosi.

Norm MacDonald as Burt Reynolds.

Jon Lovitz and Tom Hanks as those two nerds at the school trying to score chicks ("It's been a while.... And it'll be a while.").

Steve Martin as King Tut.

Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Gilda Radner and many others in basically everything.

My fave hosts that, in my opinion, can't do a bad skit include John Goodman, Alec Baldwin, and Justin Timberlake.

re: Your favorite SNL performers (and then your favorite characters they di

I'm a huge SNL fan, so it would take me forever to list everyone, but I'll put down a few.

John Belushi- Everything (Especially when he did his impression of Joe Cocker doing "A Little Help From My Friends." He sounded exactly like the man!!.)

David Spade- BUH-Bye, And you are?

Will Ferrel- Everything

Cheri Oteri- The Cheerleader and Barbara Walters on The View

Phil Hartman- Everything

Dana Carvey-Everything

Rachel Dratch- Debbie Downer and more

Seth Myers- The Zinger

Amy Poehler- RICK RICK RICK!!!!!

and of course...

Chris Farley- "You're gonna be doing a lotta doobie rollin', when YOU'RE LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!"

Oh, and can anyone help me with this. I have been trying to remember the name of the little short memory skits they had in the early 90s season. All I remember about it is it always had this guy talking about something he remembered from when he was little, and would be something like his grandma dating a murderer or him knocking a dog's head off.

I love how the Barry Gibb talk show has become a recurring sketch and Justin was never a cast member. The funnier part is that the last 2 times they did it, Jimmy wasn't even a cast member anymore.

Gilda Radner(Roseanne Rosannadanna)
Cheri O'teri (All)
Maya Rudolph(Many, but especially Pamela Bell)
Mike Myers (All)
Dana Carvey (Church Lady)
Chris Farley (Motivational Speaker, and that skit about Chippendales)

Speaker: What do you wanna do with your life?
Girl: I wanna live in a van down by the river.
Speaker: Well, you'll be living in a van down by the river when... you're living in a van down by the river.

And Jimmy Fallon, just because he's cute.

Gilda Radner did this character that nobody remembers but that I adored. She was called Colleen, and she was either autistic or had some sort of mental deficiency. She never spoke and scenes that she was in basically consisted of Colleen being plunked down in various everyday situations, where she'd twitch and jerk her head. The way I'm describing it makes it sound just awful, but rest assured, it was hilarious.

I've always thought Jane Curtin was rather unappreciated. I don't know if it's because she tended to play "real" people more than outlandish characters, but she's never had a "Best Of" special or DVD and she's sometimes forgotten or glossed over when talking about the original cast. Here's to you, Jane!
