I have Song of the South on DVD, and it's a good copy, too.
I would love to see Ally McBeal and Spin City out on DVD in the US.
"I have Song of the South on DVD, and it's a good copy, too."
And it's also a bootleg. At best it's pulled from the Japanese laser disc release (with the Japanese subtitles disabled). At worst it's from the PAL VHS release, converted to NTSC and burned onto a DVD-R.

And? I mean, if it comes out on real DVD I'll happily purchase it, but it was given to me as a present since I collect Disney DVDs, and it's an excellent copy.

The Lonely Lady starring Pia Zadora. I just had to buy a VHS copy on eBay.
And I have the DVD of Last Days of Disco, but I have heard that it is out of print now.
So no one knows what's up with ALLY MCBEAL not being released in the US when it has been released just about everywhere else?
I want some Sonia Braga and William Hurt in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN.
SA44--I wasn't calling the cops or anything. I was just clarifying for those who think it's been legitimately released on DVD. It hasn't.
I don't know what's up with Ally. I worked on all the Buffy releases, and they were released in Europe ahead of the U.S., by about 2-3 years!
Oh, ok, I'm sorry. I gotcha.
I think the problem with Ally is all the music. They need to get the rights to everything.
I read something like that on Amazon.com, something to do with the music they used to play at the bar. I didn't know if this was true since CHARMED has released almost the whole show and there were a gamut of high-profile (ish) bands that played in that show. Oh well. I just want Jane Krakowski wearing her face-bra on DVD, is that too much to ask?
Bingo!
I'm sure you're right... it's the music clearance. It's either too expensive to relicense, or too expensive to replace with something new (which would kill it for fans anyway).
There is a highlights from Season 1 DVD on Amazon.com called ALLY ON SEX AND THE SINGLE LIFE. The user reviews on there say that the U.S. will probably never get the DVDs because of copyright issues with the background music.
On there it says that the only way to get the DVDs was to get a Region 2 DVD player. This is such a funny and smart comedy with a top-of-the-line cast (Jennifer Holliday anyone?), reading those comments made me quite disappointed.
Yes, it's out in the UK, so a Region 2 DVD player would help. So strange.

"Staircase" starring Richard Burton and Rex Harrison as lovers. It's on TCM tonight along with "The Boys in the Band".
From IMDB
Charles Dyer and Harry Leeds are a couple that have been living together for nearly 20 years. Both earn a living as hairdressers in the West End of London and both care deeply for their mothers, but not each other as time apart takes its toll on their relationship when Harry has to care for his invalid mother who snips at him every chance she gets.
Director:Stanley Donen
Rex Harrison ... Charles Dyer
Richard Burton ... Harry Leeds, Owner of Chez Harry
Cathleen Nesbitt ... Harry's mother
"Song of Norway"
"Ash Wednesday" with Elizabeth Taylor
The series "Space Cases" from old school 90s Nickelodeon would be my number one pick. Both seasons. I hear there's actually bootlegs on ebay, but I want the real thing. I think they should re-air the episodes on SciFi someday.
Help is on DVD. Two versions, I think. They're on Amazon. Unless this is all about "in stores."

"Lucky Lady" with Liza, Burt and Gene Hackman
"One on One"
"Baby Blue Marine"
The original uncensored version of "The Owl and The Pussycat". The current DVD has a major cut. I've kept the VHS version which is not cut.
"One On One"
Good GOD, I haven't seen that since it was in the theatres 30 years ago! Robby Benson and Annette O'Toole. Yes, please!
I also remember loving the music.
And jimnysf---I didn't realize there was a major cut in "Owl in the Pussycat." That sucks.
"Enchanted April"
Why isn't this incredible film available on DVD?
I'd love the see the short-lived TV series The Powers That Be released on DVD. It was a hysterical political sitcom with John Forsythe, Holland Taylor, David Hyde Pierce, Valerie Mahaffey, and others.
Ok, since when is 90s considered "old school"? Old school Nickelodean would be the first season of Pinwheel in 1979.
Personall, I would like all the seasons of Ellen on DVD. Only a few select episodes from seasons 1 and 2 were released. One of them is only the second part of a 2-episode story. It says "last week on Ellen" and shows you highlights of an episode not included on any of the DVDs. It is one of the worst DVD releases of any series I've ever seen.
Girl Crazy
Glebby---Girl Crazy is coming in Sept. Part of the Mickey & Judy box set!
And Mister Matt--Complete season box sets of "Ellen" are out already. You can order them at deepdiscount.com.
Thanks best12! What took them so long?
