Cleaning up the masters.
Those movies had been hacked to bits over the years, making crappy prints for TV and theatrical re-releases.
They did a quality restoration for these DVDs... and Babes In Arms will have the full FDR segment of the finale again (which they cut out of the film after he died).
The discussion of the movie Steppin Out on the main board led me to try to add it to my queue in Netflix, but I couldn't find it so I assume it's not on DVD...
was Lucky Lady the one about the boat? I think I saw that recently. Maybe that means it will be coming out soon.

The animated TV special Really Rosie.
I just checked on a TV movie favorite that apparently HAS been released on DVD...The Girl Most Likely to with Stockard Channing. Yay! Anyone remember that? Best fantasy revenge movie ever.
Is Bette Davi's 'The Nanny' out? By the way, TROG came out today (yay!)
The Goddess with Kim Stanley
Twice Upon a Time, a great little animated film

I'm kinda stunned GIRL CRAZY is only JUST comiong out on DVD. I'm sure Turner will do a great job with it. b2b, was the original 'Mickey Moves the Rock' finale with the reprise of "Embraceable You" ever filmed? In some ways, I'm sorry that wasn't retained in the finished film...
theatrical movie: GARBO TALKS
TV movie: PUDD'NHEAD WILSON
TV series: BROOKLYN BRIDGE
Simone Signore, Katharine Ross and James Caan were in this movie called "Games". I saw it on TV the first time and it scared me poopless. I've seen it once or twice again on TV but I don't think they even released it on VHS. I'd LOVE to get a copy of that one!
Just caught up with this thread. Thanks, NCGuy and tazber for the update on Cruising being released in September. Why the "shudder" best12bars? I never understood the aversion to this film by the gay community. It's depiction of a certain fringe element of gay life is pretty accurate, if you ask me. And I don't think the film is advocating the murder of homosexuals. It's a grim film for sure, but not without its merits. And it's as much a part of the history of gay-themed cinema as The Boys in the Band or Sunday, Bloody Sunday, and the like.

I love Cruising. Can't wait for the DVD.
I can understand the personal affect it had on you, best12bars. Sorry to hear it. It was a grim and disturbing film, for sure. But if I recall, it carried a disclaimer at the beginning of the film stating that it wasn't representative of all aspects of gay life. Also, at least one of the gay characters in the film (the next door neighbor) wasn't part of "the scene" and was depicted as a fairly well adjusted, affable individual. I guess growing up in NYC and being exposed to the types of establishments depicted in the film, along with other more mainstream ones, made a difference; although I didn't find the lifestyle depicted to be particularly depressing, just the fact that someone was targeting and murdering these individuals. Still, I can see how it could have a negative effect on a young person from a small town grappling with their sexuality. I fully support your right to loathe it and to boycott its release on DVD.
I fortunately had a very supportive enviornment to come out in, and I realize I'm blessed by that. However, when I saw Boys In The Band it had a really negative effect on me as a child.
I thought that all gay guys were tired and bitter like in the movie and man, I was depressed!
But I was lucky again in that there were more positive gay role models in the 80's when I saw the film than there were when it first came out in the 70's.
I haven't seen Cruising, but I will for Pacino. I can understand how it could be a difficult movie for some people to process though based on the clips I have seen.
Jetsons: The Movie
I was 6 years old when it came out... I remember sitting at the movies loving the look... I realize now that it is just because they added shadows. I haven't seen it in such a long time!
Unfortunately, the 40 minutes that was cut from "Cruising" shortly after it's release is NOT included on the dvd. There are 2 documentaries on the film.
Yes, "Lady Luck" isn't on dvd. If I remember correctly, there was a different ending and it was reshot. Of course, studios back then, never thought to save any of that cut footage....
Wes Craven's 'Deadly Friend.'
Oh, it's an awful movie but I'd still love to complete my Wes Craven collection. You can find bootlegs but there's no official release.

TV shows: Boston Public and Third Watch. Apparently Third Watch is available around the rest of the world, but as with so many others that people named, it won't be out here in the US anytime soon. =(
Guess what I'm watching? On DVD? It's Peter Finch, Sally Kellerman, Michael York, et al - singing their way through Shangri La. Someone was selling this gem on eBay and I couldn't resist it. It's obviously a Beet Log but it's still fun to watch. It has some restored scenes added to it that were obviously copied from a bad original. There are 2 or 3 of these and the quality takes a nose dive when they appear. But it's really not bad at all. I'm glad I took the chance and bought it.
I second KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN.
I hope John Waters will make MULTIPLE MANIACS available on DVD.
Mamie, I love it!
Yes, I have that, uh... vegetable... too. I've already told my clients at Sony that I want to work on it, if they ever put the DVD into production.
They actually laughed at me... But hey, it's worked before!
It's how I got to work on Valley of the Dolls and several others.

I have a feeling I (or somebody else, even) posted this 'back then' - but in case it hasn't been, ENCHANTED APRIL.
It just ended. I love it. I do wish the music were better - but it was a joy to watch it again!
Share the joy, Mamie.
