What is your own personal favorite - the one that holds the fondest memories for you, the place you'll never forget?
For me, Firenze can not be beaten.
Jerusalem,
I spent some of the most amazing years of my life there.

I have two favorites. The first is Boston. I love it's charm and emphasis on everything historical/ The other is San Francisco. I think SF has a remarkable personality and the place is just fun. I love taking a cable car ride to Fisherman's Wharf. My heart will always be there.
zone I was also in Venice in 2002...and we'll be there nexy year on the way to Slovenia, wondrous city
LOVE you avitar tiff!
My next fondest is Florence.
New York is home, so I'm not including it. But it's where the heart is.

Is that from Priscilla?
Have a nice time in Slovenia, Elphaba. I had a wonderful time travelling through Ljubljana, Dubrovnik, Venice - you'll love it.
Thanks, Elphaba!
You're the only person to notice!
(Edit: Except for Orpheum - yes, it is Priscilla!)
Does anyone have hotel recommendations for Venice near St. Mark's Square or the Grand Canal that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'm looking for 3.5/4-star and willing to pay a couple hundred, but not the $700 that Foscari Palace would be looking for!
orpheum, we'll be renting a car in Ljubljana, and also spending time at Lake Bled, and Piran...before moving on to Prague.
I'm planning it all now...so much fun
I adore Prague!

Planning is half the fun, I find.
I'm afraid I have no hotel recommendations for Venice. We stayed quite a bit outside the city at Lido de Jesoli, which was inexpensive and fairly convenient.

besides the city i've lived in my whole life so far,i would have to say Chicago
tiff, we stayed at the Hotel Canada, near the Rialto Bridge, in Campo San Lio....was pretty reasonable. They have a room with a rooftop terrace, 4th floor, no elevator.....it's only two stars, but we loved it
