I don't believe a poultice is good for an open wound; and, from your description, it appears to be open! Also, I thought they used poultice on farm animals and horses. Are you horse-like in some way?
JohnBoy, I wouldn't be surprised.
"Are you horse-like in some way? "
If the rumours coming from the gym dressing room are any indication, I think the answer is yes.

Papa- does it look anything like this?
Papa -
I understand your pain.
First, get some butter and rub it around the wound. Don't get "I can't believe it's not butter" - it has to be REAL butter.
Second, crack and egg and mix it together with some milk and dunk a piece of bread into it
Next, preheat
Oh wait. I'm sorry - I was giving you the recipe for french toast
Actually, that's a pretty good recipe for a poultice.
dammit, craig! i was halfway through...geez.
i don't have a digital camera handy, but i found a representation online that really looks like my wound.

SweetQ- Why did you have the post that!?!!?!
Papa, there are teenagers that visit this site that have parents who don't want them to look at that sort of gore. We certainly wouldn't want to make it more difficult for the moderators because you couldn't exercise some discretion about your wounds.
Potato Poultice
Here's How:
Chop two unpeeled potatoes into 1 inch cubes.
Boil the potato cubes. Mash them.
Spread the potatoes onto a thick gauze or cheesecloth. Add another sheet of gauze or cheesecloth or fold it over.
Test the temperature with your hand, making sure it's not too hot.
Apply the poultice to the affected area. Wrap it with a dry cloth or towel and hold it in place with string or bandage.
Remove the poultice once it is cold.
It may not do much for the chest wound, but it will help the pesky eczema.
Here is a diagram demonstrating the best way to stop the bleeding:

Ah dunno, Patronus.
I think the pink dress.
I think I'd agree with you, nomdeplume...I still hold that the pink is better with my complexion.

Have you a nextdoor vampire that could help you out with the blood thing?
What's Hugh Panaro doing?
I thought the sea foam dress would be more absorbent.
Papa, for a mear 10k, I could hook you up with someone that will magic away the demons in your soul. For now...just teepee yourself...

Well, it all seems to be moot now as papa's abscence suggests he finally knocked off.
I can supply the proper burial services as well...

Time for a good ole fashioned BWW shiva?
I'll be a pall bearer, if, and only if iHeartMyGeek and Sueleen sing "I Will Never Leave You" from Side Show with their matching avatars and then Sueleen strikes her down.
Someone has to do "You Don't Know This Man" from Parade.
SweetQ, do you mind icing the picture you have there. It's making me hurl.

I've watched ER enough times... I think I can try to do a thoracotomy for no reason at all. At least it might stop the bleeding from the first wound.
reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. away with your eastern tribal rituals, marlene. colleen, the bleeding seems to have slowed and clotted. put down the champagne, pj.
Awww damn, I was going to call in the Munchkins...they're not going to be happy noooow.

Nom, if you want papa to use bloodsuckers I'd suggest instead of a vampire he use leeches. There never seems to be a shortage of those around these parts.
