I think you're right Addy - they're all beautiful! Have you ever been in the desert in the spring, right after a rare spring shower? The cactus blossoms are so incredibly beautiful they almost hurt the eyes to look at them!

And another favorite scene - a field of dandelions and violets. All wild and perfect!

My friend is crazy about purple too. She has a huge roof garden on the building she owns around my corner. She does tons of gardening and the place is gorgeous. they shot a commercial up there last summer! Anyway, almost all the flowers that she has planted up there are purple. there's only a splash of some yellow and orange. Everything in her life is actually purple, lol. It's her mother's favorite color also. Strange!

Jane2, it reminds me of a summer vacation I took to Provincetown. All the pictures I took were of purple flowers I saw during that trip.

Mamie - you are so right about the desert! I lived in Arizona for a few years, and the colors of cactus blooms are some of the most vibrantly alive I've ever seen. It's like they know they have this one shot to 'get things done', so they give it all they've got!

Oh, I LOVE cyclamen. Especially when the sun shines through them and you see the shapes of the petals right through them..

This is one reason I don't completely cancel out the possiblity of one day retiring to a warm climate-you have beauty around you all year long. We're in a barren spell over here right now.

my aunt gave me this last year around thanksgiving

it's a carnation with stuff around it to make it look like a turkey. the stuff wans't stuck to it, it was on sticks that went into the dirt around it.

I have a triple Azalea that's about ready to pop, so this has to be in the garden, too.

And Jane - year-round blossoming is absolutely one of the reasons I live here!

I love white tiger lilies. Oh I just love them. Daffodils kind of annoy me because they are every where and I see them as not as special but w/e.

Jane, that's awesome! I like to do that with landmarks when I travel.
