re: iowa caucus thread

I just find it very breastillating that we can still use the word "caucus" on here!

re: iowa caucus thread

I went to the caucus. I voted for Edwards, but I also like Obama so I'm happy with the results.

This means only good things for him from here on in.

I am upset that the SCARY ASS huckabee won from the Right wingers.

re: iowa caucus thread

Another interesting fact about the unprecedented youth turn out for Obama- this isn't like voting, which is a "5 minutes, anytime across a 14 hour day" committment, caucusing is a "two hour on a freezing Thursday night at 6:30" committment. If this many will show up to caucus in Iowa, imagine how many will turn out to vote in Ohio.

Huckabee? Really?

These people are bigger freaks than I thought they were. And that's saying something.

re: iowa caucus thread

I am hoping for Obama or Edwards, but I doubt Edwards will still be in when it finally comes around to Indiana's primary. I just don't trust Hillary. The idea of two families controlling the executive for almost a quarter of a century doesn't strike me as what the founding fathers had in mind.

I too am surprised about Huckabee!
As for the Democrats, I would have preferred Edwards, but such is life.

Does anybody know why Iowa goes first?

re: iowa caucus thread

I'm undecided, so I'm pleased that last night's results at least shake up the field some. I'd have been disappointed if it were a clear road to victory for Clinton. I think if I had to choose today, I'm leaning towards Edwards, but he, paradoxically, strikes me as having the most "electability" problems of the three. And if Obama really is the candidate to finally successfully get out the youth vote, hopefully he'll be the one up there in November.

re: iowa caucus thread

I can't believe Huckabee has gotten as far as he has. With his conservative-religious backing and almost cartoonish persona, I'd been hoping to write him off. Nonetheless, if he's in the ascent I hope that means he can be easily beaten by the Democratic candidate.

re: iowa caucus thread

It's really not all that surprising. Evangelists already live in a fantasy world so of course they go for the least qualified and viable candidate. He'll lose steam in NH and he'll be gone before we know it.
