I just put out another letter to Mano. But this time, I sent him some drawings, including one of the cast doing the time warp. Yes, I know. I'm a nutcase. Might as well put me in the straight jacket.

SO GOOD, but a few things...
Firstly, there were two understudies. Ben Eakeley was on as the Beadle (as expected), and Stephen McIntyre was on a Jonas Fogg. Ben was fine, but he didn't get a laugh where Alex usually does-- after a sarcastic line about his daughter's birthday and how joyful everything is...or something like that. Stephen McIntyre was also fine; the part is small enough that the change was hardly noticeable.
A cell phone went off, but it went off at the *perfect* time-- right after the "Wigmaker's Sequence", so it was silent. And Mano just stared at the person. And it proceeded to ring like, 8 times. I'm sure the person was sufficiently humiliated. heh
Oh, and Mano kicked over the white coffin during "Not While I'm Around". After the show he said it was weird because Toby never touches the coffin, so he and Mrs. Lovett had a little "project" to do during the song-- get the coffin upright. They handled it well, though.
Mano and Lauren both had name sliders, so I guess they already got new ones or had extra.
I went to the stagedoor, and Mano recognized me which was very exciting. Lauren recognized me too, which surprised me a little because I've never really talked to her. I kept bumping into her at Joe's Pub last month, though. That's probably why.
The End.

Yay, I get so happy reading about these good reviews!
I noticed the sliders thing too I kinda laughed when I saw them though to think of all that was said over two stupid pieces of plastic and the respect they deserve
Cute review, ihearttheatre.
I come with two things. I just remembered that I had wanted to ask last week. Michael Cerveris was always carrying a white couffin. I don't understand why.
And my second is, I tried sending Mano a message a few days ago and it said his inbox was closed for a week. It's been longer than a week. I know none of you can do anything about it, I just thought it was strange.
I agree: So. Good.
I just about died when the phone went off. I couldn't believe it. Everyone was looking in that direction.
Oh, I didn't see it, but supposedly someone had their feet on the stage and I think Patti shoved them off.
And the coffin: I was so confused when it fell. XD I thought it might be possessed or something. They put it upright before Patti said her line during one of the conversations during 'Not While I'm Around'.
The sliders: They are from the understudy board. I can tell, because their names are directly in the center of the sliders (like the understudy board) and the names on the sliders for the regular board are on the left (of the slider).
I actually got to stagedoor because my cousin didn't go with me. I saw the show alone. *insert spooky music*. I actually spoke. A lot. Last time I was really silent.
I ended up buying one of Lauren's shirt, which I actually wasn't going to, but I decided that I loved the design too much. We were talking a little bit about her design and how she wasn't sure if she was going to sell them etc.
I asked Mano if he had any idea what he was going to sing for the gig and he said some old stuff and some new stuff. I'm looking foward to the new stuff.
Annndddd....Ben (Eakeley) stumbled back when I answered his question about if it was my first time. (Of course, the answer was that this was my 3rd.)
What else...I introduced myself to Christine (Or, "Christ". ). She pretended to be Patti while we waited and attempted to do a Michael cocked-eyebrow-head-tilted impression.
Oh, this takes the cake. My cousin (who was waiting for me) asked -- and recieved -- a total of 17 high fives from strangers today...Including Christine, Michael and Patti. XD I was in awe.
Seriously, this poor cast has received the brunt of rude audience behavior this past week. Between stolen sliders, cell phones, feet on the stage (I'm shocked that someone would even *think* to do that), and drunken slurs during the show....I hope they haven't given up completely on their audiences.
Mel -
The white coffin, literally, is Sweeney's barber chair. But it is something that is obviously symbolic and open to interpretation. I think there are numerous theories floating around about it (I know I've seen stuff on the main board so you might want to do a search for it).
Mano's inbox. Yes, it's closed. He said it would be closed for a week, and four weeks later it's still closed.
I've heard of so many instances where people put their feet up on the stage. It's so rude.
I still don't really understand the white couffin thing, but thanks for explaining it, fantabulous.
I'd explain it further, but I have to go to work now. Maybe later! (unless someone beats me to it).
Didn't Doyle say somewhere that the little coffin originally came from not having enough money to get a real barber chair? And then, I guess it ended up working very well symbolically because it could represent various other things, so they decided to keep it, even when they did have money to work with.
I guess I understand that it's meant to be the barber chair. It just seems weird that it would be a white couffin. I think it would be hard for people who are not farmiliar with the show (ie. me) to know that it's meant to be a chair.
I think it's open(ish), as for the symbolism. It's white and it's small, and he cradles it like a baby when he talks about never seeing Johanna again. The last time he saw her, she was only a year old, or so.
But as for knowing that it's the chair, there's a line in the show that say it. They literally hold it and say "this chair...."
Ahhhh, I'm back! I was at a sumer thing which is why I was gone but now I'm back! Mwahahaha.
Oh haha, I guess I missed that line. Thanks for explaining it, Em and also Fantab.
AAHHH! *hugs* I'm glad you're back!

I managed to miss that the coffin was a chair the first time I saw it, too.
I have to say, although the behavior from the audience can be astonishingly rude (the first time I saw Sweeney, someone directly in front of me asked, "Is it over?" really loudly at a certain climactic point near the end, and then porceeded to storm out in the middle of the curtian call), but I love the way that the cast handles surprises/glitches.
Once a whole party was being ushered into the 10th, 11th rows during "Pirelli's Magical Elixer", and Mano stopped dead in the middle of the song, held the position he was half-crouching in for a moment, and then impatiently gestured the audience members being seated to sit down faster. I don't think I'm explaining very well, but it was the cutest thing. :) And I loved how he kept offering the bottle to the bald man sitting in the front row.
When I saw the show last week, there was a couple sitting fifth row, dead center. Throughout the first act, the woman talked. Every time she would say something, people around her would tell her to shut up, and then her husband would get defensive and talk back. I was sitting in the right orchestra, and I found it distracting from where I was, so I can't imagine how distracting it was for the people around them. During Ladies in Their Sensibilites (I think), the couple got up and left. They didn't even wait for a blackout and applause break...they just did it smack in the middle of the number.
I just thought they were really rude. Turns out the woman was drunk. They were held in the back of the theater where the house manager spoke to them and then wanted them to leave. They refused to go, and the cops were called to get them outside. Supposedly they were still hanging around on the corner at intermission.
I'm always amazed by some peoples stupidity.
What's the point in going to the theatre drunk? That's just stupid.
There are some shows that I'd have to be pretty wasted to sit through.

I was at the show with the drunk woman as well Fantabulous428. That woman was annoying. I was with my sister and she didn't even realize what was going on -- and we were sitting in the center orchestra, although to the right side.
It was the type of thing where as I looked over, I noticed that everyone else was looking in that direction too. I just tried to not pay attention to it.
Wow, I had no idea about all the rude audience members. How stupid.
Rude audience members SUCK. I just, ugh is your phone call that important? People have ANSWERED them in the theatre before, that's even worse.
Anyway, I leave for Martha's Vineyard for a week and a half in a couple of hours. I'll miss BWW.

Seeing Rent, I was sitting next to someone that answered their phone during intermission...and then continued talking halfway through Seasons of Love. *twitches compulsively*
It's just so rude- to the audience as well as the actors. If the call is that important, take it out into the lobby!
