why are these crackers called "Chicken in a Biscuit"? they don't taste like chicken, a little bit biscuit-y. we were having a random class discussion about "retro" foods and none of the kids had heard of these before, even though they still make em.

some of the others i thought of that i can't find anymore are:
* Jello 1-2-3
* Dunkin Donuts cereal
* Mr. T cereal
* Delaware Punch soda
* Cheeto's bacon and cheese
* Keebler Tater Skins potato chips
* Conquistadors corn chips (tubes with mexican cheese inside)
* Whatchamacallit candy bars

What are some of your food memories?

Don't f*ck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo.

I loved Dunkaroos. You can actually still get them if you order them online, but I haven't seen them in any stores for a few years.

I still see Whatchamacallit in select convenience stores and vending machines.

Bugles - I eat them all the time and yet everytime people see me eating them, they say "I didn't know these were still around"

Koogle - cinnamon flavored peanut butter

Quisp cereal (with the martian on the front of the box)

I remembers these crackers shaped like ducks called Quakers and they were my favorite things as a kid

also Pizza Hut Doritos which were the best Doritos ever, why they stopped making them i'll never know...

Handi-snacks! Breadsticks and artificial cheese goo. The best!

Also, lunchables, bugles, fruit by the foot, squeez-it drinks...

Goober is the stuff with the pb and j all in the same jar. LOVE Goober!!! They still make it, BTW.

OTM - I think that stuff was called "Goober Grape." It was "striped" PB&J in one jar - looked kind of gross!

I guess I ate a lot of junk food when I was a kid, because I remember...
Fun Dip (which is 100% sugar, I think!)
Choco-Lite candy bars (they came in brown and yellow wrappers - and the chocolate had these "air bubbles" in it. They were quite tasty!)
Velamints
Hi-C "juice"
Jello molds - my grandmother would float just about anything edible in a jello mold and serve it up at a party. Yuckers.

"Goober is the stuff with the pb and j all in the same jar."

IMO, they never got the ratio right. There was always too much pb and not enough jelly.

I was always the opposite- I wanted more pb and less j. Loved it anyway, though. I would just try to scoop out the two in my own proportions. It worked out okay because my brother liked the jelly more than the peanut butter.

Goober looked okay until you used it. Then it all got smushed together and looked gross.

And I loved Fun Dip.

peach - I actually got a fun-dip on Valentine's Day, haha. And they are most definitely 100% sugar!

So Fun Dip is still around? Oh - I am all over the green color sugar-fun-dip-alicious-ness of that!

I am going to pick some up on the way home and get myself wired up before American Idol starts!

Pop Rocks--I think that's what they were called. You know, the stuff where you weren't supposed to eat them and drink pop at the same time because "they'd explode in your stomach"!

Also, pudding pops and fruit role ups.

I still eat fruit rollups. And fruit by the foot.

Slim Jims (I know they are still around, but I haven't eaten one since I was 16).

Regarding Bugles, they must have changed their recipe, because they don't taste like the ones I had growing up. Still love them, though.

"Regarding Bugles, they must have changed their recipe, because they don't taste like the ones I had growing up."

I hear ya. Nothing is as good as the old days. I miss the days when Coke had sugar in it and it actually had a decent amount of carbonation.

I suspect they bake Bugles now. Before I think they fried them. There is definitely a different taste. But I still like to eat them off my pinky finger.

Katt- i got dunkaroos for retreat a year or so ago. i think i got them at target

mominator- you can still get mallow cups at cracker barrels. my mom and i saw them on unwrapped on food network and then saw them there. they also sell skybars.

i loved sprinklins. it was yogurt that you put sprinkles in. i think they might still make them. i also loved lunchables pizzas. a raw pizza doesn't sound all that great anymore.

They were really at Target? Hmm, maybe they don't sell them where I live. I got some from a grocery store online though. They were great. :)

A really great site for these kinds of things is www.retrojunk.com
