Honest to god this really happened(also the Walmart thing did to and we informed the parents that Walmart would not know who they voted for so they wouldn't be fired)....4 other teachers were in the room..the principal was also there(she to was upset as and she talked to the teacher after school, I left at 3:20 and did not have time to stick around to find out what happened, but one of the other teachers called me and said she was written up)...I go to 3 elementary schools each day and this is the smallest one in the district..It is small in numbers(K5 to 2nd grade about 103 students) and small in square footage(7 classrooms, 1 all purpose room, a teacher's lounge, nurses office, main office)..I have to teach in the hallways sometimes...we are also a low income district...this women teaches 1st grade...she has a muslim student that is also one of my students (I teach ESL)...she has never been racist against this student (as far as I know) but I am going to make sure this student knows she can tell me anything that happens in the class...plus the mother is very active in the school so if anything goes down she would make sure the principal knows
Like I said my students never see my purse(I hide it because it was stolen my first year of teaching)...I keep it in my closet or my car when I have a heavy bag to carry. I was coming back from lunch and entered the teacher's lounge with 3 other teachers...my button is not that big...you really have to look at it to read it

jasonf---LOL.
violet72--I questioned this a bit at first, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.
Are you going to report this, or are you worried about the repercussions?

To tell you the truth I think the principal is taking care of it. Our union rep was in there at the tail end of it...so she is aware...button is off my purse...one of the reasons I am shocked is because I thought this person was my friend...I went to her wedding...and she says this...I think I am dropping it and dropping her as a friend

" but I am going to make sure this student knows she can tell me anything that happens in the class...plus the mother is very active in the school so if anything goes down she would make sure the principal knows."
BAD idea. Do not drag a student and her mother into this. If you want to report it to the principal, fine, but you should really keep your nose out of the other teacher's classroom. Asking a student to report to you as to what goes on in another teacher's class is totally unprofessional. Please don't cause more trouble for yourself and at the same time making you look worse than the other teacher.
An incident happened between you and another teacher. I think you should keep it between you, try to resolve it and don't start growing it into a bigger mess. You'll be sorry.
This is my opinion after teaching 25 years in one of the most disadvantaged systems in the country. We taught in the hallways also!
Good luck.

I am not going to drag the student or her parent in(I would never bring a parent into a situation like this)...I was just saying that the parent is active in the school so if the teacher does anything to the student, mom wouldn't be shy about going to the principal so the child will be protected. I honestly think the principal being there and seeing it was a good thing
Thanks Jane

I'm at a nearby cafe (since the internet at my apartment stopped working for some reason) and three people sitting near me were talking about the presidential elections. The girl (an Independent who is voting for McCain) dogged the Democrat guy about Obama's religion, and when he didn't know what it was, she proclaimed that he's Muslim and that's why she won't be voting for him.
I wish I had spoken up and told her that guess what, he's a practicing Christian.

Scary to think that someone this ignorant is raising children.

Dramatic? Wow!! Everyone is entitled to their opinion as ridiculous as it may seem. Would you drop someone as a friend if we both didn't like the color red?

I couldn't agree more, Goth. Being a radical Christian is every bit as scary as being a radical Muslim.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we find out that papa teaches in a public school (or some kind of state supported school)? A Socialist Republican!
For the record, I own a business that grosses less than $250,000 yr. I own another business that grosses....over $250,000 a year and I'm part owner of another business that grosses, ... quite a bit more than $250,000 yr.
Let's see who the real Capitalist is and who the real Socialist is. XD

I know how you feel.
There are no signs in my yard, no buttons on my purse, and yet, based solely on where I live, I was called a racist by a very prominent and powerful congressman. Thousands upon thousands of Americans heard and believed him, too.

"To which I asked her if she considered one of her students to be a terrorist because they are a Muslim...and she said well they are trained to be. "
File a complaint. She's free to say whatever she wants but she shouldn't expect to hold a job with that mouth.
