I agree. Before last night, I always regarded Iler as some lucky kid who happened to land that role. He was excellent.
And Tony's pool scene made me feel for him all over again (after hating him for killing Chrissy).
"Seeing Sil reading a book "A Hundred Ways to Clean Anything" made me laugh."
Me too! Sil is my fave and I really want to see him survive.
A great episode, culiminating a trio of extraordinary shows. I was very shaken by this one, Gandolfini's work his finest. It 's been said before, but it doesn't feel near the end. This domestic crisis, blended with the loss of Christopher and all of the ominous notes sounded, suggest another very full arc. There's never a shortage of drama, and we're sadly about to see it come to a stop.
Oh, and it was finally clear that Tony was shouting "I get it" to the sunrise.
It was touching when he was talking about how the sun comes up each day.
I'm not sure what he "got" though.

I wonder if Tony didn't make a huge mistake in going after Coco, as understandable as it was (I guess also to save face). Now Phil knows Meadow is his weakness. He's still looking to avenge Billy's murder (he didn't get it out of his system with Vito), and I wouldn't put it past him to play dirty.
Gross but funny moment-when Tony found a residual tooth in his pants leg!
God, that scene in the café with Meadow was so intense. (Anyone notice the Grey Gardens mention?)
I found the scene with Melfi and Elliot very telling. Will Melfi now doubt that Tony was doing anything but using his sessions to hone his sociopathic skills? I don't think that is the case, but what an interesting theory.

The cafe scene made me incredibly uncomfortable. When that pig actually dared to touch her face, I cringed!
If you look at the promo for the next to last episode, you kind of see Phil kind of give away what may be happening re Tony
HBO has done something smart although . The last episode will be on the sunday after the Tony.s They are not afraid of them but did not want the next to last episode airing on the Sunday of memorial day weekend
Last night? Wow. I am rather surprised how moved I was when (not to spoil anything) the "big events" happened.
Is anyone going to miss this show as much as I am? I am actually kind of depressed about it!

All these seasons and Robert Iler finally learns to act in the last one!
Yes, I will miss this show. Even when it's at it's worst, it's spectacular, cinema-quality television...the likes of which we will probably never see again.
Falco never ceases to amaze me. In her last scene with Tony when she realizes what is happening you can literally see the color draining out of her face.
Oh, and the scene with Melfi and Tony? Brilliant. I am glad to see Chase didn't leave her hanging, as she seemed to disappear the last couple of seasons.
I watched it twice last night.
I'll miss this series terribly.

Best American TV drama EVER. I can't believe it will soon be over.
Yes, this is the best tv ever.
Last night's episode was odd for me. First of all, the whole psychiatry thing. The dinner full of shrinks where Melfi's own breaks a cardinal rule of medicine by revealing Tony as Melfi's patient?? And then Melfi realizing she's got to cut Tony loose after reading that article, leading to the most unrealistic scene in which she behaves like an immature teenager in her last session with Tony. Highly unrealistic writing for that situation, I thought. And Tony politely excusing her with the excuse of menopause, or whatever he said.
I really expected a backlash from the psychiatric community from last night. Chase really hates those shrinks!
Have any of you BWWers ever been to "Flatbush Bikini Waxing and Beauty Shop"?
that was freaking hilarious!
One of the best of the entire series
The killing in the shop reminded me the sequence in The Godfather 2 when the baptism is taking place. The editing on that & the whole sequence was brilliant
I have (after Sunday)the last 9 on 2 DVD'S - i have about 40 oyjer episodes of the series but these ones are gold
i cannot believe both aj and tony die in the finale.
Where did that come from ?
Is this idle speculation or did you bribe someone to twll you this?
i'm in germany and the finale aired here already.

RobbO - how did the decaption of Janice scene play out? Did it look real?
RobbO, did you see the very last scene where it's revealed that Carmela was actually the mastermind?
The Godmother. So effing brilliant.

cheeze - I hated the Janice decaptitation scene. Total ripoff of the Ralphie Cifaretto head in a bowling bag storyline.
And I loved the three-way with Carm, Furio and Rosalie Aprile.
