Yeah but Freud thought EVERYTHING was about sex (well, he was a man! Lol - JOKE!!!!!). I mean, one of his cases we studied in psychology was a girl who kept dreaming about a horse and he said it meant she wanted to sleep with her father. WHAT?!?!? Where'd that come from????

Not that you're painting with broad brushstrokes or anything, Money. Freud very famously said that sometimes a cigar "is just a cigar." BUT, José's use of the word "pole" is a very revealing Freudian choice.

Sometimes Jose' can have an ulterior motive for his musings.

He was not of course referring to himself as politics is not his foundation.

Although a PoliSci major in the land of Gators, politics is something he dips into when he has an opinion not when he wants to identify those in his bed. Updated On: 8/1/04 at 04:47 PM

Some people realize that almost every choice an individual makes in his life that has an impact on another person is political in nature. The personal is political.

Gee, somebody right that down.

Because I am dense, José, perhaps you can spell out for me what your use of the word "alterior" was supposed to convey, you clever wordsmith, you?

Oh, I fully see the phallic imagery, Namo. But I do wonder about some of Freud's other diagnoses* - they just seem WEIRD.

"There is an underlying pole of being gay is being political that supports certain posters around here."

Still don't know what this means. Is the lingua franca of this Board English? Maybe I got turned around.

Hmmmmmm.

Don't see anything in anything Namo's ever written that can be interpreted as "converting" anyone.

I finally understand how "LOL" is the new way to connote what we called in the 20th century passive-aggressive behavior.

it's not what he writes, zola, but how he writes it that's so damn subversive. he's got that "gay agenda" down pat and constantly tries to slip it in wherever he can. i speak from experience in that i personally have been a target of his subcounscious subtextual hypno-homo attacks. that's right, he tried the mind control on me. fortunately, as i am a republican, this approach was doomed to fail, but don't you think that the evidence is not there clear as day for anyone ambitious enough to put the pieces together. the way he packs his posts full of facts and wit, the way he uses multisyllable words, oh yeah, it's pretty clear.

be afraid, be very afraid.

I'm the Namo Fan Club Czar, so fear not, Papa.

I would hasten to point out, though, if YOU had started a thread called "unimportant ramblings of a straight man," most of us would have found at least two if not three redundancies in the title.

"I really am not accepted in either world."

Poor thing. It must be so hard to be unaccepted and so misunderstood. I've found that when you pretend to be part of one group then pretend to be part of another, you most often end up being outside of both.

It doesn't matter who or what you are as long as you are true to yourself and have pride and respect for yourself. I personally would never be able to feel a sense of self respect if I worked all day with homophobes and pretended to be part of that group out of fear that they may percieve me as gay. It's certainly none of my business but, I think you might be happier and find more acceptence if you gained a bit of self respect and decided to be who and what you are instead of expending so much energy trying to fit into whatever group you happen to be among.

I know quite a few men who have a passion for theater and are heterosexual. They enjoy this passion without concern for what others may think about them.

I happen to be female and straight (married with 3 kids) but I know a lot of guys (including my husband) who are avid theater fans and can talk musicals with the best of them and KNOW the words to a lot of Sondheim stuff.

I also have many friends from the theater, music and every walk of life who are gay and aren't really into theater...so...let's not pigeon hole people. We are what we are...and gay or straight some of us just love theater and should be welcome on the boards regardless of our orientation.

Yes, yes, Sam, you are right. People should just be who they are and be welcomed. But as Bobo has pointed out, he pretends to be different things in two different areas of his life and -- wah, wah, wah -- isn't accepted in either of them.

Golly, I wonder why? Can it be that people perceive he is being phony? I'm telling you, I have never had an experience in my life with a man who spends as much time explicitly detailing his straightness as Bobo does in so many words who was NOT dealing with problems related to his own repression of who he really is. Never, not once, ever.

And because this is a theater board, I would like to direct folks' attention to a piece performed by Miss Sandra Bernhard that details The Bobo Story perfectly. (I am not saying all straight guys who love theater are secretly gay. I am saying this story sounds a LOT like Bobo's, and after all, there are only so many narratives in the world).

The piece is called "Mighty Real," and it's from Sandra's smash hit one-woman Off-Broadway show, "Without YOU... I'm Nothing." This was later made into a really fabulous movie and sometimes, if you're lucky, you can find the recording of it in used CD stores.

In "Mighty Real," Sandra details a story of a man who goes out with his buddy to a club after enduring his break up with a Playboy bunny. But it's not like any other club he's ever been to.... somebody hands him a tambourine...

It's particularly good for people interested in where the Bobo story ends up.

Keep it real, Bobo. Mighty real.

How come no one has dealt with the fact that someone is using THE LEADING LADIES dvd as mastubatory material.

If that doesn't make you gay, then it at least makes you profoundly disturbed.
