Though I loved it, it truly felt like one of Cher’s infomercials from the late 80s. It truly was an infomercial for THE CHER SHOW. There were even the TV commercials between breaks.

I thought this was a great promo for the show but also for Cher's tour. It was interesting to hear from Cher that this new tour was basically unexpected after she did Mama Mia 2 and her ABBA songs were so well received. I wish she would have agreed to a 2-year break while this show fed the masses.

Yes. It felt a little shady. Personally, I still dont think shes the biggest fan of the show but her name is on it. I think years down the road she will say it was a mistake.

It's really hard to do a show about a single iconic performer. Unless they are dead or its decades after their fame or death. I think Cher and Tina are hard to do because they are known for their distinctive voices, not necessarily their catalogs. They weren't song writers. Carole King wrote songs and they are incredible songs, so that feels different. Jersey Boys had a distinctive vocal style that was beautifully recreated and was an art in and of itself. Cher can't be reproduced. It's a hard sell on so many levels. I think "On Your Feet" really displayed how poorly MSM songs have stood up over time. They really arent good without Gloria singing them.

I actually think putting Cher next to the actors on TV can hurt the show because it further disinterests people in the show. They're like, "hey there's Cher" and not interested in the show without her. She's still way too dynamic.

SJB is incredible and deserves the Tony, but the show isn't very good. Entertaining, yes, but with a really clunky and boring book. The grosses are revealing that.

Having only seen the show twice in previews in Chicago, I am incredibly impressed by how the show has changed and become more spectacular. I don't feel that you can say that the book is weak, this show is based on the events in someone's life. By saying the book is weak, you're saying that the person had a less than interesting life. Cher has always been an idol of mine ever since I was a child and I hope that the show can stay open for as long as she continues to have breath on this planet...

Not really true.... a weak book is a weak book. Period. That doesn’t mean Cher had a boring life, it means the writer didn’t translate her life into story form very well. It’s all in the execution.


For example- I thought the movie “Lincoln” was incredibly dull. I doubt Lincoln’s life was.
