I need to write a 10 minute play. I can't think of any ideas. Please help! I'll take any and all ideas! Thanks!
A play about somebody struggling to write a 10-minute play, so they set up a BroadwayWorld account in an attempt to siphon other people's creative thoughts.
I mean...you can't think of anything?
I can't think of anything that would be interesting. Like at first I was thinking something like a first date/relationship or finding out that you are adopted... But those would turn out really boring.
So you thought you'd ask a bunch of strangers?
Nearly ANYTHING can be interesting or boring. It's up to the writer. It's all about the conflict. What's the oddest thing you can imagine about a first date? Or the worst person to get set up with? MAKE it interesting, but at least it would be yours

Maybe go sit in a Starbucks or somewhere public and you'll see something that will trigger an interesting story. Or, just start writing and see where it goes. In a pinch, there are books in Barnes&Noble and I'm sure on-line, with writing prompts that might help.
Go crazy. Years ago, I was told I had to write a short play set in a living room. I thought that sounded deadly dull, until I decided to set it in the Middle East and the two people in the living room were the parents of a suicide bomber.
Let your imagination run wild, rather than take someone else's idea. If you use another person's idea, the play will, probably, never be completely satisfying to you.
Good luck and let us know what you wrote about.
A man talking to a hotel clerk in a seedy hotel in the early part of the 20 th century.. Wait a minute. We have that now but it seems like an hour and not 10 minutes.

Why do you "need" to write a 1ten minute play? For a class? For a competition? That should give you some sense of what is expected. And - by the way - a ten-minute play is one of the most difficult pieces of drama to do successfully. Good luck.
A woman is going crazy due to her dead son and she receives electro-shock therapy.
A man and a woman are co-workers who hate each other in real life but fall for each other when they join a Lonely Hearts Club, where they exchange letters as pen pals. They decide to meet at a restaurant and she arrives first. When he sees her and realizes she is his dear friend from the letters, he must decide whether to tell her who he is. He decides to ruin her date with the guy from the letter...what she doesn't know is that HE is the guy from the letters.
You're welcome.
^ BRILLIANT IDEA. I feel almost like they should work somewhere fancy and retail-y... Not a hair salon... Not a makeup parlor... Hmm..

Ask your folks and grandparents to tell you some stories from the old days. "Remember the time we..." It will provide inspiration whether or not you hue closely to the actual story.
Most likely you are not doing what you should if you need help with creativity.
