From what I've heard, it seems to me that the show has changed a lot in terms of its offensiveness. Since everything else in the show now is pretty innocent, I didn't mind the terminal illness jokes. Also, I think people are talking up that one song too much so that even before a person sees the show, they already know they're going to be offended by the song. Maybe give it another chance?

I, personally, was more offended with kids saying "i'm gonna get all up in her biddness!"
The whole show just made me uncomfortable.
Agreed, Tom.
It's kinda just an altogether awkward experience...

I hadn't read anything about the show before seeing it--except that was "good" or "bad". Nothing about the actual content.
Well, I do admit that hearing one of the kids saying "I got drunk" was a little cringe-worthy. So young?

You're pretending like that doesn't happen every day... it does.

All of this happens to really 13 year olds...to portray it any other way would be untruthful, imo.
I agree, sadly, but I still don't think of it as "funny" or "entertaining" in a musical comedy.

And it's impossible for everyone to love a show...thankfully what you find boring I find entertaining.
Sorry, Jake, I was referring to MrMusic and CatsNY posts RE: the "I got drunk" line; not your post!

no problem haha.
By the way, Lucy on the CD says that she got diagnosed with an eating disorder. She no longer says that. Instead, she says something like, "I went up a dress size."
